Zack makes it to his office, and he starts trying to get come counselors to come and speak. He arranges for a staff of five to come and speak with any student that wants to talk. He also schedules an assembly for first period. He starts working on taking a week off. He needs to be close to Max, Caleb, and Sam. He is also going to schedule Jackson off, and he is going to get the work for the boys. He wants them to spend some time at home bonding. Max is taking this the hardest.
Zack is so confused on what to do. He would never wish harm to Aiden, but he did bully his baby brother. He is very concerned about Max. Max cried himself to sleep and it seems like he is trying to shut down just a little.
The time flies by and before you know it he is in the auditorium waiting to begin speaking. All the students and teachers are finally in the room, and he begins speaking.
(Z) I have some news to share with you. Caine escaped police custody yesterday morning. He then proceeded to go to Aiden's house. Caine took Aiden and his mother's life last night. I want the entire student body as well as staff to know we have people here you can talk to. I will be taking a week off as well as Mr. Jackson. Sam, Caleb, and Max will also be taking the week off. Max is the most disturbed by this news. I would like anyone who wants to pray to stay after the assembly and you can form a circle and pray for their family. I hope anyone who needs to talk will take the opportunity to speak with a grief counselor today. Thank you and have a good day. You can all go back to class. If anyone wants to head home you can call your parents. You can check out and go home with their permission. It will not count as a missed today. I am asking all teachers to address a schedule change for absents. Thank you all and if anyone needs me feel free to see me at my office before, I leave. I plan on leaving within the hour. I hope you all have a good day.
Zack wraps the meeting up and everyone heads back to their classrooms. A few students stay to pray, and Zack has a line at his door wanting to speak to him. He was afraid they were upset with the news. Every single student gave Zack their numbers where Max could reach out if he wanted to talk. Zack feels the love the entire student body feels for Max. Porter comes to his office and he breaks down crying. Zack comforts him and calls his parents. Zack explains the situation and they agree to let Porter stay a few nights to be with Max, Sam, and Caleb. Zack loves Porter and he wants him to know he is there for him.
Zack decides it is time to head out and he grabs Porter from class. They get the work for the rest of the week, and they head home. They stop and pick up lunch for everyone. They walk in the door and Max walks over and hugs Zack. Zack lifts him up and they go to the guest room to speak. He knows Max is upset and he wants to try and make it better. Max(M) and Zack(Z) will speak.
(Z) How are you feeling baby?
(M) I am ok.
(Z) Can you please tell me the truth?
(M) I am telling the truth. I know it was not my fault. Aiden wanted to help us catch Caine. I am just sorry that the police did not protect him.
(Z) I know baby. I am sorry this happened. It is all my fault.
(M) It is not your fault. This is Caine's fault, and he will never get out of prison.
(Z) I know baby.
(M) Can I go back in there and hang out with the boys and Porter?
(Z) That is fine. I brought us some lunch. I would like us all to talk while we eat. Are you ok with that?
(M) Yes.
(Z) Good, come on and lets go. I want you in a better mood. I love you baby.
(M) I love you to Zacky. Can I sleep with Jackson tonight?
