KAIA WAS PULLED into Aiden's arms before she had a chance to react when she and Ashlyn returned to waiting room where the rest of their friends and family were waiting for them. Kaia's body relaxed the moment his arms wrapped around her and she leaned into his hold, allowing herself to lean onto him as he held her closer.
Ashlyn wandered off with her dad while Aiden couldn't bring himself to let go of Kaia just yet. Kaia, for once, didn't mind as she rested her head on his chest, his face buried in the top of her hair. Not a word was spoken between the two as they stood there, but Kaia knew all too well that a million needed to be said.
Kaia had long since realized she was throwing caution to the wind with him now. He had her, Aiden held her heart within his hands and Kaia somehow wasn't flipping her shit. She was all too aware of the fact that she was terrified, not exactly because she found him scary, but because the prospect he held every bit of her within his hands and could break her without a moment's notice terrified her.
He could tear her apart like it was nothing, shatter her into a million little pieces like she was nothing more than a sheet of glass. That was scary, terrifying even. But the worst part of it all was Kaia's realization that she'd let him. He held her and could break her and Kaia Campbell would do nothing more than watch as he did so.
