I didn't grow up in a house on fire.
I grew up in a house where
everyone was burning on the inside.
So even if I were burning and turning into ashes,
I would keep my mouth shut.
If I had to weep,
I'd keep a hand over my mouth.
If I had to scream,
I'd scream into a pillow.
If I wanted to punch someone,
I'd punch the water in a bucket instead.
I'd do all of this,
just to make sure to not light the match.
And just to prevent the flame from
bringing the house down to ashes.
