Chapter 4: Butterflies in the night

"Hey, Yoongi," I greeted, trying to sound casual despite the butterflies fluttering in my stomach.

"Hey," Yoongi replied, his voice quiet as he watched me and Jimin approach. His eyes flickered between us, and I couldn't help but notice a small hint of jealousy in his gaze. Pulling out of the embrace with him in I turn towards him.

"Thanks for walking me back, Jimin," I said, a sense of gratitude washing over me.

"It's no problem at all," Jimin replied, his smile soft and genuine. "I'll text you later to make sure you're okay, okay?"

I nodded, feeling a sense of warmth at his concern. "Okay, sounds good. Goodnight, Jimin."

"Goodnight, (Y/n)," Jimin said, giving me a small wave before turning to head back the way we came. As I watched him go, a small smile tugged at my lips before I turned back to face Yoongi.

"Let's head inside," Yoongi said, his voice low as he held the door open for me. There was a subtle tension in his demeanor, and I couldn't help but wonder what thoughts were running through his mind.

As we entered the dorm, the air felt charged with unspoken emotions. Yoongi's presence beside me was both comforting and unnerving, a mixture of familiarity and uncertainty that left me feeling off balance.

"Thanks," I said, breaking the silence as he placed slippers down for me.

"It's no problem," Yoongi replied, his tone terse as he avoided meeting my gaze. There was a stiffness in his posture, a hint of something unresolved lingering in the air between us.

As the tension between us began to ease, Yoongi cleared his throat, breaking the silence once more. "Hey, uh, I actually made us dinner earlier. I texted you about it, but I guess your phone was dead."

His words caught me off guard, and I felt a pang of guilt for not seeing his message. "I'm sorry, Yoongi. I didn't mean to miss your text. Thank you for making dinner."

Yoongi waved off my apology with a small smile. "It's no big deal. I just thought it would be nice to have a meal together, you know?"

"Yeah, definitely," I replied, returning his smile. "I appreciate it. Let's eat."

As we sat down to dinner, the aroma of Yoongi's cooking filled the air, creating a cozy atmosphere that eased the lingering tension between us. As we began to eat, I couldn't help but feel grateful for this moment of normalcy amidst the whirlwind of the day.

"So, how was your day, (Y/n)?" Yoongi asked, his gaze warm as he looked at me across the table.

I smiled, feeling a sense of comfort in his presence. "It was good, thanks for asking. Namjoon and I grabbed lunch together, and then I hung out with Jimin in the theater room. He showed me some of his dance routines, and we talked about auditioning for the upcoming play."

"That sounds like fun," Yoongi replied, a hint of curiosity in his voice. "Are you thinking of auditioning too?"

"Yeah, Jimin thinks I'd be good for a role," I said, feeling a surge of excitement at the prospect. "It's something I've always wanted to try."

"That's great," Yoongi said, his smile genuine. "I'm sure you'll do amazing."

As we continued to eat, Yoongi began to tell me about his day, sharing anecdotes about his classes and interactions with his friends. He mentioned how Jungkook had messed up a vocal part in one of their songs during practice, causing them to have to redo the entire take. Despite the setback, Yoongi seemed to take it in stride, his easygoing nature shining through.
