seungkwan was almost positive that his friends had psychic abilities. either that, or they just knew that wonwoo and mingyu were on speaking terms again.
it wasn't like any of the three best friends announced the news to their other friends. they didn't think that it was newsworthy. seungkwan only found out right before soonyoung texted the chat and said something about how he missed them and that they should hang out soon, and yes, it was mandatory. seungkwan knew what soonyoung was doing, and he planned to reprimand his older friend for pushing their friends together at that time.
later that night, seungkwan called soonyoung and told him that the timing was really bad. seungkwan remembered soonyoung going silent on the other line on his phone. and then the older boy let out a laugh and said, "no offense, kwan, but i don't care about any of that shit. mingyu and wonwoo dated, and now they're not dating. that's it. that's life. we are all friends, and it's gonna be awkward, but we will push through it. because we all care about each other."
seungkwan just blinked in surprise, the corner of his lips tugging upwards at soonyoung's words. a part of him admired the older boy's lighthearted take on the situation. he wished that could have been him.
seungkwan chuckled quietly, a fond smile on his face as he mumbled, "when did you get so wise, hyung?"
soonyoung was loudly crunching on a bag of chips as he let out a loud laugh at the younger boy's words. "i don't know. a lifetime of bullshit has prepared me for this moment." he paused, letting out a sigh as he gently said, "and i don't want you to do that thing you do where you feel like you have to fix everyone's problems."
seungkwan looked down at his lap with a frown. "i can't help it, hyung. sometimes, i feel like it's my fault. like i should have been there for them, or–"
"i will reach through this phone and smack the shit out of you if you continue that sentence, kwan."
seungkwan laughed loudly, his face splitting into a grin as he said, "okay, okay. i get it. it's not my fault that things didn't work out between them."
"exactly. and, not to be that person, but i told mingyu that things wouldn't work out between them, and he still went ahead with it. this just goes to show that everyone should listen to my advice." soonyoung said nonchalantly as he returned to munching on his chips.
seungkwan furrowed his eyebrows at the older boy's words. he sat up straight, scratching his nose as he asked, "what do you mean?"
soonyoung let out a lighthearted chuckle. "kwan, i'm sure you know."
seungkwan paused. "know what?" he asked cautiously, lying back on his bed as he waited for soonyoung's response.
"... kwan."
"what?"
"ugh, fine. i will break the news to you." soonyoung said with a sigh.
seungkwan was perfectly still as he waited for the older boy to continue. there were so many things running in his mind as he lay there, listening to soonyoung let out a string of deep breaths.
"well, mingyu likes someone else." the older boy said finally.
seungkwan laughed suddenly, shaking his head in amusement as he said, "yeah. i know."
the sound of soonyoung clicking his tongue could be heard on the other line. "okay... well, apparently, he confessed to that dude, and the guy said he didn't like him back. mingyu called me after and was like trying to hide that he was crying. and when wonwoo asked him out that same night, he was still reeling from what happened earlier that day, so he just said yes to wonwoo. which i told him was messed up, but he ended up liking wonwoo, so i guess it worked out. kinda."
