Amongst all of the weeds,
A small sapling grows,
Often being overshadowed,
By the more powerful plants around.They push it down,
Through their long stems,
And wide leaves,
They hog the sunlight.They steal every opportunity,
To grow,
To flourish,
To thrive.The weeds can grow,
And they grow fast.
They leave no opportunities for others;
Especially not a small sapling.They are filled,
With sharp stems;
Thorns jut out,
At every opportunity to reach out.They interlock,
Twisting,
Twining,
Together, to lock the sapling in.They are selfish.
They need everything for themselves.
Why should they care for another plant?
Especially if it is destined to die, anyways.A seed should have never fallen there;
So much good soil not too far off,
For a good tree to grow.
Why stay locked off here?The fate for the sapling,
Has already been written.
This life is a door slammed shut.
Nowhere is there a key to open it.With their leave so wide;
Stems so long,
There is no room,
For a small sapling to grow.So, it sits.
And sits,
And sits.
Just waiting for a ray of light.Patience is key.
Yet, time is running out,
The weeds around hog all resources,
Will it just accept its fate?As time lingers longer,
It is easy for one to lose all hope,
It is easy to just accept fate,
After waiting so long, and growing so faint.Death claws at it.
About to drag the sapling down,
To the rocky soil,
Where no seed should have fallen.Locks all around it,
With no key in sight,
With no light to guide it out,
No drop of rain left.That ray of sun will always come,
Even for those growing in the worst conditions.
Even for a sapling locked off amidst all weeds.
A slim chance of hope is its key.So, once a weed began to wither,
Once the sun began to shine through,
The sapling took its chance,
To thrive, and outgrow the others around it.As it grew,
It found it could outpace the others.
It found its patience and hope,
Was not for nothing.Light reaches out,
When all felt lost,
As truly,
All was never lost.With patience comes its hope,
It learns to live;
Unchained and unlocked,
From the weeds who had held it down for so long.It unlocked its way to thrive;
Soon it grew up fast,
Faster than a weed,
To become a great, large tree.——
