Hello Everyone!

I am back! I had many debates on how to start this chapter, depending on everyone's reaction to the last chapter. As mentioned before, I have thought about this idea way into the earlier chapters, but your guy's reaction was going to be a verdict on whether to continue or change it. I've decided to continue with my previous idea. I hope you guys have these upcoming chapters since Mei knows the truth. Also, thank you all for being considerate and sweet in the previous chapter. I was so worried and terrified at reactions.

I do not own Vampire Knight.

Picture: I do not own it. It is from the author who created Rosalyn Bogarte. They are a talented artist, and the story is beautiful. I highly recommend checking it out. The picture is simply how I imagine Anastasia's mom to look. I hope you enjoy it.

Chapter 26

My mother was a wonderful person, with her blue eyes shining as bright as the morning sky. Those eyes were constantly full of warmth and love. Her hair was light brown, long, wavy, and silky. How my mother stretched her lips into a perfect smile brought me happiness. Her personality radiated kindness, loyalty, and sweetness to anyone in her life who appeared before her. Even the rude and disrespectful people, she would turn around and try to help them. My mother believed that each person needs a chance to prove themselves. Her idealogy was that there was more to someone than we would ever see. We have to give them a chance to show it to us. I grew up with her mindset and viewed the world that seemed so dark in a more positive light. I desperately wanted to be as beautiful as my mom. However, the incident at the hospital changed everything.

My entire body would be in the worst pain, causing me to cry uncontrollably. My heart was incredibly fast, and my vision would be devoid of color. All I could see in those moments were black and white. It felt like my brain couldn't function properly, with the pain worsening. With each test and scan, the doctors did say my body was in perfect condition. I was a completely healthy, normal girl. My grandfather was responsible for all tests and scans at the hospital. He was in charge of my well-being and tried his hardest to keep me feeling safe. As I grew older, the pain would feel like my body was being torn apart. I would scream for my mom. She would immediately hear my calls and hold onto me tightly so I could feel her arms more than the pain. We have tried every shot, liquid, and pill to relieve pain. There was no cure. There was no reliving this endless pain in my entire being. During my state of consciousness, I can hear my mom apologizing. Her voice sounded so weak. I didn't want my mom to cry. I didn't want my mom to apologize.

Mom...

"Anastasia Davis, your mother, Elizabeth Davis, is the youngest daughter of the Kuran family, Emiko Kuran."

The vision of my mother smiling down at me with her warm, loving eyes cracked like a mirror into small shards. The shards of her image fall to the ground to reveal a woman with blood-red eyes. There was blood dripping from her chin with her gorgeous dress covered in red. I was staring at the woman who was my mother but had the aura of someone so powerful and dangerous that my heart was aching. The aching in my chest was getting heavier as my eyes continued to stare at her. The image of my mother on the glass window made more sense. It was not an illusion. It was a deep trauma buried deep inside my heart. However, the question now was, who's trauma? Anastasia's or Mei's?

Her image slowly disappeared and was replaced by the vampire king, Haruka Kuran. My mother's older brother. My uncle. My mom is a Kuran. I moved my hands out of Haruka's hold to grip a fist full of my shirt, where my heart was. The aching pain has not let up a single moment. Somehow, somewhere, I knew that my life was more complicated than I allowed it to be. All of these hints were here in front of me. Every single hint echoed in my head.
