Breakfast time and all the ladies come down wearing onesies.
“What are you wearing?” Nate
“Onesies.” Nia
“Do you like them?” Norah and they all strike a pose. Their mom takes a picture. I do the same. Nia is a giraffe, Norah a leopard, Nova a zebra and Nyx a lion.
“Wow.” Liam
They start dancing around making sure to wiggle their tails. All the guys are on the floor laughing. I even see their mom wiping a few stray tears. Eventually breakfast is set up and we all eat
I see that Norah has posted the picture on social media and immediately they trend. The plan is now in motion. Nia has taken the ladies and their mom out of the house. I have seen the guys moving around the backyard setting stuff up.
"Yo Mateo come out back and check. Nia says you must approve.” Liam and I follow him and I find the backyard set up with and it looks amazing.
“Thank you guys, this is amazing.”
“How are the nerves?” Nate
“Eating at me.”
“You will be fine son just breathe and speak from the heart.” The dad
“Thank you sir.”
The ladies eventually return as the sun falls. Nyx is taken upstairs before I can even see her. We all migrate to the backyard and wait for them. Their mom comes first.
“Ok they are almost done. Are you ready?”
“No time like the present.” Soft music comes on and Norah and Nova come out first and create a passageway then Nia comes with Nyx and the others follow behind her. Nia makes her stand in front of me at the stage set up.
“Hi baby.”
“This had better not be what I think it is Mateo Theodore Adams.” Everyone laughs
“It is and don’t give me weird middle names.”
“Ugh…”
“So I had practiced this so many times and I thought that I need to have perfect words but looking at you now I realise that I just want to tell you that I love you. Thank you for being part of my life and showing me what it feels like to have someone to want to share a life with. So Nyx I told you I would do this until you agree. So hopefully third time is the charm.” I say going down on one knee. “Will you marry me?”
“Aren’t you going to open the box?!” Nia
“No, I want her to be excited for this not the ring.” Everyone laughs. “So?”
“Say yes!” Norah “You know you want to!” Nova
“Yes.” and I open the box and show her the ring. A tanzanite ring. He inserts it and gets up to hug her and kiss her. Everyone is cheering. We sit down for dinner.
“So question?” Asks their mom. “Yes mom?” they all answer equally
“Now that all of you are engaged how is this going to work? One wedding?”
“Uhm, no. You know we won’t fit that aspect.” Norah
“Nia wants the fairy-tale wedding with the horse and carriage. Norah would be happy getting married at a club. I want a backyard wedding. Nyx is just happy signing in court and that will be all.” Nova
“A club Norah?” Asks their father
“Yes dad why be stiff? Let’s have fun.”
“A club though?”
“At least I will give you something. What about Nyx and the court?”
“No we want full weddings from all of you. I want to be able to walk you down the isle.”
“Ugh dad… you will do that three times. Count me out.” Nyx
This conversation is so hilarious that us as guys we are trying to hold in our laughs
“Nyx Miller should you dare get married in court. I will…” he says still thinking of a threat
“Burn those one of a kind sneakers of yours.” Adds the mother and she gasps
“You wouldn’t dare.” She says with eyes and mouth wide open
“Oh we would young lady.” Says their father
“Why threaten me? What about Ms club here? Plus I am still to be forced to wear an ugly dress by Nia that will be enough.”
“Hey!” Nia
“Besides its my wedding not ours. It’s my dream and vision. Well Mateo’s as well. Our vision. If we agree on court then it’s that.”
“Mateo don’t you dare agree to that.” Their dad
“Ok sir.”
