description: in which gyujin gets annoyed (and later insecure) at how many people interrupt his alone time with haoyu (set after haoyu's return; gyujin - 16 and haoyu - 16 almost 17)
~
1st interruption:
"ugh, i hate studying!" said gyujin, grabbing onto haoyu's arm. they were sitting inside of a cafe, trying to be productive. gyujin hated how everything haoyu told him about high school was completely wrong.
"it's okay," whispered haoyu before taking a sip of some juice. "i'll play a song for you when we get home." gyujin glanced at his textbooks scattered across the table, feeling the weight of the upcoming exams pressing down on him.
he sighed, leaning back in his chair and looking out the window. the sky was a dull gray, matching his mood perfectly. "you know, you really made it seem like high school would be all fun and games," he muttered.
haoyu chuckled softly, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "well, there are fun parts too," he said, trying to cheer gyujin up. "like our lunch breaks together, or the time we spent at the arcade last weekend. you can't forget those moments."
gyujin couldn't help but smile at the memories. haoyu had a way of making even the most mundane days feel special. "i guess you're right," he admitted, picking up his pen again. "but i still don't see why we have to know all this stuff."
he heard the other boy laugh softly, the sound like music to his ears. "you really do complain a lot," haoyu teased, his eyes sparkling with amusement.
gyujin rolled his eyes but couldn't hide his grin. "only because i know you'll put up with it," he replied, nudging haoyu playfully. "besides, it's your fault for being so optimistic all the time."
haoyu shook his head, still smiling. "well, someone has to keep you from spiraling into despair," he said, glancing at gyujin's open textbook. "let's make a deal. we get through two more sections, and then we can take a break. maybe get some ice cream?"
gyujin nodded profusely before reaching over to grab some of haoyu's food. they had been dating for 8 months now and so far, he could see why gyuvin became a simp. nonetheless, gyujin watched as haoyu shook his head and take out a book labeled "history of the americas" from his backpack.
all of the sudden, gyujin heard a girl whispering behind him. so, he turned around to see a girl standing near where they were sitting.
is she staring at me?
conflicted, gyujin traced the girl's line of sight back to haoyu, which made him feel weird. "haoyu," gyujin said quietly, nudging his boyfriend. "i think that girl is staring at you."
haoyu looked up from his book, his eyes following gyujin's gaze. the girl, realizing she had been noticed, blushed and approached their table hesitantly.
"um, excuse me," she said, her voice soft but nervous. "are you haoyu from mrs. kim's history class?"
haoyu blinked in surprise but nodded. "yeah, that's me."
the girl smiled shyly. "i thought so. i just wanted to say that your presentation on the renaissance last week was really amazing. it helped me understand the topic a lot better."
haoyu's face lit up with a smile. "thank you! i'm glad it helped."
gyujin watched the exchange with mixed feelings. on one hand, he was proud of haoyu and happy to see him getting recognition. on the other hand, he couldn't help but feel a twinge of jealousy.
