As Nick and I stepped into my house after the Halloween party, a wave of exhaustion washed over me, mingled with the lingering excitement of the night. The soft glow of the porch light illuminated our path as we made our way inside, shedding our costumes and the remnants of the evening's festivities. Nick and I planned yo spend the night binging horror movies together.

After a quick shower and a change of clothes, we found ourselves in my room, nestled under the covers as we prepared for a night of scary movies. The soft flicker of the TV cast eerie shadows across the walls, adding to the atmosphere of suspense and anticipation.

As we scrolled through the endless options on the streaming service, I couldn't help but steal glances at Nick out of the corner of my eye. His relaxed demeanor and easy smile put me at ease, his presence a comforting presence in the darkness.

"So, what are we watching first?" Nick asked, his voice breaking the silence as he settled in beside me.

I shrugged, a playful grin tugging at the corners of my lips. "How about something classic, like 'Psycho' or 'The Shining'?"

Nick chuckled, his eyes sparkling with amusement. "Sounds good to me. Let's dive into the world of horror."

As the first movie began to play, we leaned back against the pillows, the sound of the eerie soundtrack filling the room. With each twist and turn of the plot, I found myself inching closer to Nick, seeking solace in his presence as the tension mounted.

As the night wore on, we worked our way through a handful of horror classics, jumping at every unexpected noise and reveling in the thrill of the scares. With each movie, our laughter and banter filled the room, a welcome distraction from the horrors unfolding onscreen.

As the opening credits of "Psycho" began to roll, Nick and I settled in, ready for a night of scares and thrills. The room was dimly lit by the glow of the TV screen, casting eerie shadows across the walls.

"Ready to be terrified?" Nick asked, his voice tinged with excitement as he reached for the popcorn.

I chuckled, stealing a handful of popcorn for myself. "Bring it on. I can handle anything as long as you're here to protect me."

Nick grinned, his eyes twinkling with amusement. "I'll do my best, but no promises if things get too spooky."

As the movie progressed, we found ourselves caught up in the suspense, jumping at every unexpected noise and sharing whispered theories about the plot twists.

"Did you see that?" I exclaimed, clutching Nick's arm as a particularly tense scene unfolded onscreen.

Nick laughed, his arm wrapping around my shoulder in a comforting gesture. "I told you this movie was going to be intense. But don't worry, I've got you."

As the credits rolled and we moved on to our next movie, "The Shining," our banter continued, punctuated by bouts of laughter and playful teasing.

"Imagine being stuck in a haunted hotel with no way out," I said, shuddering at the thought.

Nick raised an eyebrow, a mischievous glint in his eye. "I don't know, sounds like the perfect opportunity for some quality bonding time."

I rolled my eyes, swatting him playfully. "You're terrible. But I guess if we were stuck in a haunted hotel, at least we'd have each other."

And as the night wore on, our playful banter and shared laughter filled the room.

I felt my phone buzz in my hand, signaling a new message. Glancing down, I saw it was from Alex.

"What are you and Nick up to at your place?" the text read.

Next to me, Nick noticed the message and flashed a mischievous grin. I couldn't help but smile back, a warmth spreading through me at the thought of sharing this moment with him.

I quickly typed out a reply, my fingers dancing across the screen.

"Hey Alex! Nick and I just finished a horror movie marathon. It was terrifying! How's your night going?"

As I hit send.

A smirk tugged at my lips as I read Alex's response.

"Sounds like you're having a blast! Don't have too much fun 😉"

I chuckled at his playful tone and shot back a quick reply.

"Don't worry, Alex, we'll save some scares for you! 😉"

Beside me, Nick let out a hearty laugh, his eyes twinkling with amusement.

As the credits rolled on the last horror movie of the night, Nick and I found ourselves still caught up in a whirlwind of playful banter. The tension between us crackled in the air, sparking with each teasing remark and flirtatious glance.

"You know, Leah," Nick said, his voice low and filled with mock seriousness, "I think you might need me to protect you from the monsters under your bed tonight."

I rolled my eyes, but couldn't suppress the grin that tugged at my lips. "Please, Nick," I replied, matching his playful tone, "I think I can handle a few monsters on my own."

Nick chuckled, his eyes sparkling with mischief. "Suit yourself," he said, leaning closer until our faces were mere inches apart. "But don't come crying to me when they come creeping out in the middle of the night."

I felt my heart race at the proximity, his breath warm against my skin. The playful banter was exhilarating, a dance of words that hinted at something more lingering just beneath the surface.

But before things could escalate further, Nick pulled back, a mischievous glint in his eye. "Or maybe," he said, his voice low and husky, "you'd rather I stay and protect you myself."

I couldn't help but laugh at his audacity, the tension between us dissipating into playful laughter. "Nice try, Nick," I said, shaking my head, "but I think I'll take my chances with the monsters."

Nick grinned, his eyes alight with amusement. "Fair enough," he said, leaning back against the couch cushions. "But just remember, I'll be right here if you need me."

And as we settled in for the night, the glow of the TV casting flickering shadows across the room, I couldn't help but feel a sense of warmth and contentment wash over me. In Nick's company, even the scariest of movies felt a little less terrifying.
