O L I V I A

Four months later.

College is finally over, and during the night we were celebrating it, I told my friends I'm going to London for the next year. They were sad, especially Jordan and Jaxon, but they were really happy for me.

Now, we're celebrating my last day in New York. We chat, laugh, and remember all the good times. Some of us, like Sam, Isabel, and Everett, even cry when the party gets emotional.

After the party and saying our goodbyes, since I've had a bit to drink, Jaxon offers to walk me home. As we silently walk alongside each other, I got lost in my thoughts about everything that happened during this year.

"What's the first thing you wanna do when you get to London?" Jaxon asks out of the blue, his voice pulling me out of my thoughts as I look over at him.

"I don't know, maybe explore the city," I say with shrug, and he nods, smiling.

"You'll love it. London's got so much to offer. Have you thought about where you'll stay?"

"Yeah, my dad arranged an apartment for me. It's near the school," I reply.

"That sounds perfect," he says, his expression thoughtful. "Can I ask you something?" Jaxon says, breaking the silence.

I look at him and nod, smiling. He rubs the back of his neck nervously.

"Do you have a boyfriend or someone you're interested in?"

The question catches me off guard, and my smile fades. I think about that night with Ace at my apartment, and a painful tightening grips my chest. Tears well up in my eyes but I blink them away.

"I'm sorry if I made you uncomfortable. I didn't mean to," Jaxon quickly apologizes, seeing my reaction.

I force a smile and shake my head.

"No, it's okay. I don't have a boyfriend, and I'm not interested in anyone right now. I'm not planning on it either,"

Jaxon looks disappointed but tries to hide it. When we get to my apartment, I turn to him.

"Thanks for walking me home and for everything tonight. It means a lot," I admit and he gives me a small smile.

"Anytime. Have a great time in London. If you need anything, just call me," he says and I smile back.

"I will. Thanks, Jaxon,"

We hug goodbye, and I head inside, feeling sad about leaving and the way things turned out.

"Olivia, wait!" Jaxon calls out before I reach the door.

I turn back, and Jaxon steps closer, his face tense with emotion.

"Can I talk to you for a second?"

"Sure," I reply and Jaxon fidgets, rubbing the back of his neck nervously.
