The sun was high in the sky, casting warm rays of light through the window. The house was quiet—almost too quiet. It was one of those rare moments when the usual chaos was replaced with a calm stillness. But the calm didn’t last long, especially when it came to Haseena.Ammi was busy preparing lunch in the kitchen, while Haseena was sitting on the floor, surrounded by a mess of toys. The floor was scattered with everything from building blocks to a lone teddy bear. But that wasn’t the problem.
The real chaos started when Haseena, with her innocent yet mischievous little hands, reached for the water jug. She dragged it across the floor and made her way toward the bathroom.
It didn’t take long for Ammi to realize what was happening. The sound of splashing water reached her ears, and her eyes widened in alarm. She quickly wiped her hands on her apron and rushed to the bathroom.
There, standing in the middle of a small puddle, was Haseena. The water jug was overturned, and water was spilling all around her. Haseena looked up at her, completely unfazed.
“Baby, yeh kya kiya tumne?” Ammi asked, her voice a mix of shock and amusement.
Haseena gave her a toothy grin and then pointed at the tap, as if to say, It wasn’t me, it was the tap’s fault!
Ammi sighed, rolling her eyes in playful frustration. “Achha, tumhe toh har cheez se khelna hota hai na?”
She bent down, scooping her daughter into her arms. "Chalo, ab tumhe nahaati hoon. Tumhein toh har waqt kuch na kuch naya karne ka mann rehta hai."
Haseena giggled and flailed her little arms, excited by the idea of water and the impending bath. She loved bath time. But that didn’t mean she would make it easy for her mother.
Ammi carefully placed Haseena into the tub, turning on the warm water and testing it with her wrist. But before she could start, Haseena, ever the curious one, grabbed the soap and tossed it out of the tub.
Ammi, trying to hold her back from doing more mischief, laughed softly. “Haseena, thoda toh chup-chaap baitho!”
But of course, Haseena was having none of it. With the soap out of the way, she started splashing water everywhere—at Ammi, at herself, and even on the bathroom walls.
“Baby! Nahi!” Ammi scolded gently, trying to catch Haseena’s tiny hands before she made more of a mess.
Haseena, grinning ear to ear, didn’t listen. She splashed harder, laughing at her own antics. The water was now covering the bathroom floor, and Ammi, though amused, knew she had to control the situation before it got out of hand.
“Chalo, chalo, tumhein maza aane de diya. Ab bas karo!” Ammi said, scooping up Haseena and quickly rinsing her off.
But just as she was about to finish, Haseena had a new idea. She grabbed the shower head and aimed it at Ammi’s face, sending a stream of water directly at her.
“Arre! Haseena!” Ammi exclaimed, ducking away, but laughing at her daughter’s mischief.
“Yeh tumne kya kiya?” Ammi asked, wiping her face with the back of her hand.
Haseena, completely innocent in her actions, just giggled and looked at her mother like she’d done nothing wrong.
“Baby, tum bilkul ek chhoti si paheli ho,” Ammi said with a fond smile, as she wrapped her daughter in a soft towel. “Har waqt kuch na kuch naya karna hota hai.”
As Ammi got Haseena dressed in a cute little outfit, she couldn't help but smile at her daughter’s mischievous nature. Every day with Haseena was an adventure, filled with laughter, mess, and endless surprises. There would never be a dull moment with her around.
Just as Ammi finished brushing Haseena’s hair, the sound of the doorbell rang.
“Yeh kahan se aayi awaaz?” Ammi wondered aloud.
Haseena, who was always ready for a new game, darted out of the room before Ammi could stop her.
“Baby! Wahan mat jao!” Ammi called, running after her.
But Haseena, already at the door, was peering through the small crack, her eyes wide with curiosity.
“Baby, wahan mat jao...!” Ammi said again, grabbing her by the arm just in time.
A few moments later, Veer and Vansh came running toward Haseena.
“Arre, Baby! Kahan bhaagi jaa rahi thi?” Veer asked with a teasing smile, his protective older brother instincts kicking in.
Vansh, ever the protective younger brother, placed his hand on Haseena’s head. “Kaha tha na, aapko andar rehna, Baby!”
But Haseena, as usual, wasn’t in the mood to listen. She grinned at her brothers, clearly plotting her next move.
Ammi watched them all, shaking her head with a smile. “Yeh Haseena toh kabhi na sudhrega!”
