This is the last chapter of my drafts ⚠.
While starting this book I had written a lot at once and they were all at drafts but now this is the end so my updates might be even more late than before.
Your patience will be highly appreciated....
The college day had ended like any other—buzzing corridors, sleepy students, professors heading toward the parking lot. But Anubhav lingered.
As students trickled out, he caught sight of Haseena at the gate, adjusting the strap of her bag, the wind teasing strands of her hair. He walked up beside her, clearing his throat just enough to make her turn.
“Come with me,” he said softly.
No explanation. No heavy looks. Just a quiet invitation.
She hesitated for a moment but nodded.

College Rooftop — Late Afternoon
The staircase to the rooftop creaked slightly as they climbed. The door was rusted but gave way easily with a nudge. The rooftop was wide, empty, and forgotten—just the way Anubhav remembered it. A couple of broken benches, water tanks, and an old satellite dish that probably hadn’t worked since Doordarshan days.
They sat on the concrete floor, backs resting against the water tank. The city stretched before them, distant horns blending with the call of a kite flying overhead.
“I used to come here when I was confused,” Anubhav began.
“This place... it doesn’t lie. It just lets you breathe.”Haseena hugged her knees to her chest.
“So what are you confused about now?”He looked at her for a moment, then away.
“You.”The silence that followed was thick, but not uncomfortable.
“I’m not sorry for what I said,” she said suddenly.
“Even if you pretend to forget it... I won’t.”He smiled faintly.
“I don’t want to forget it. I’ve thought about it every night since.”Her eyes widened. Her heart tripped.
“But I keep thinking,” he continued, “what if this gets harder for you? If people find out... if your Dadi or father... if they make you choose?”
Haseena turned to face him. Her voice was steady, but her fingers trembled.
“Then I’ll choose the one who doesn’t make me feel ashamed of being who I am.”
That hit him harder than any confession.
He leaned his head back against the tank and closed his eyes.
“You’re too young to carry this kind of storm.”
“I’m already carrying it,” she whispered, “might as well have an umbrella.”
He laughed, soft and surprised.
And for a while, they just sat there—no hugs, no stolen kisses. Just air, sky, truth, and two hearts trying to figure out how to beat without bruising.

That Evening — At Home
The evening chaos had returned with full force at Haseena’s house.
She had barely changed out of her college clothes when she flopped onto the couch, reaching for the remote.
“Vansh!” she yelled, “It’s my turn! I want to watch Shinchan!*”
Vansh, sitting cross-legged like a mini king with the remote clutched to his chest, glared at her.
“I came first! And I’m watching Doraemon!”“You’ve already watched this episode three times!”
“Still fun!” he shot back.
Just as Haseena lunged to snatch the remote, Veer walked in, munching on an apple.
“Veer bhaiya, say something!” she demanded.
Veer shrugged, smirking.
“I saw Vansh watching TV since the last 20 minutes... Baby ki baari hai.”Vansh gasped in betrayal.
“Veer bhaiya! Traitor!”But it was too late. Veer plucked the remote out of Vansh’s hands and dropped it into Haseena’s lap like royalty awarding a sword.
She beamed.
“Thank you, Veer bhaiya. You're the only one who loves me.”Veer gave her a wink and walked off.
Vansh sulked into the cushions, muttering something about unfairness and elder siblings being biased.
But Haseena didn’t care. As Shinchan’s theme song filled the room, she smiled to herself.
Maybe everything wasn’t figured out yet—her love life, her future, her terrifying grandmother.
But at least for now, she had her people.
And her remote.
