The day began like any other at college. Haseena stood near the staircase with Riya and Shazia, pretending to laugh at a joke she didn’t hear. Her mind wasn’t there—it hadn’t been, not since she confessed her feelings.
Every time she saw Anubhav sir, her heart skipped. But he hadn’t said a word since that day. No signals. No smiles. Just silence.
“Kya lagta hai tum dono ko?” she asked her friends as they walked toward the canteen.
Shazia raised a brow. “Ki tum pagal ho chuki ho.”
Riya giggled. “Aur sir… woh toh Ice Age ke glacier ki tarah cool dikhte hain. Kuch kehna padhega Haseena. Warna ye suspense tujhe hi kha jayega.”
“Main kuch nahi bolne wali. Usne time manga tha na? Toh main wait karungi…” she said, biting her lip.
That wait ended the moment her phone buzzed.
“Staff room aa jao. 5 minutes.”
– Anubhav SirHer breath hitched. The words were simple. But her world spun.
She excused herself and made her way there, each step louder than the last. When she entered, the room was empty except for Anubhav sitting by the window.
“Baitho,” he said without looking.
She hesitated, then sat.
For a few seconds, neither spoke.
Then finally, he turned toward her.
“Main pehle confused tha, Haseena. Tum student ho… aur main tumhara teacher. Yeh rishta shuru hone se pehle hi thoda… ajeeb hai.”
She lowered her eyes.
“Lekin,” he continued, “main jhoot nahi bol sakta. Tumhari har baat, har muskurahat… mere din ka hissa ban chuki hai.”
Her eyes snapped up.
“Main bhi tumse pyaar karta hoon.”
She blinked. Did she hear that right?
“Sach?” she whispered, her voice barely there.
Anubhav smiled softly. “Itna sach jitna tumhara mera samne baithna.”
Tears welled up in her eyes—not of sadness, but of overwhelming joy.
He handed her a folded note. “Lekin… yeh rishte ko chhupana padega thodi der. Jab tak waqt aur halat dono saath na de.”
She took it, nodded, and smiled with the kind of glow only love could bring.
They stood, facing each other. For a moment, time froze.
“Ek baat aur,” he added, teasing. “Agle test mein pass toh ho jao.”
“Sir!” she laughed. “Aap bhi na…”
Outside, the world carried on as usual. Inside, two hearts had finally found their rhythm.

It was a cloudy Thursday afternoon, and the psychology class had just ended. Most students had already left for their next lecture, but Haseena stayed behind, clutching her notebook like a shield.
She slowly approached Anubhav’s desk, heart drumming faster than the second hand on the classroom clock.
“Sir, mujhe kuch doubts poochhne the,” she said, trying to sound neutral.
Anubhav didn’t look up immediately. He continued arranging his papers, then finally looked at her with the faintest smile tugging at his lips.
“Tumhe doubts hai?” he asked. “Ya sirf mera chehra dekhne ka bahana chahiye tha?”
Her eyes widened. “Sir!” she hissed, glancing toward the door.
“Relax,” he said, leaning back in his chair. “Poora college gayab ho gaya hai. Sirf main hoon, tum ho… aur tumhare psychological doubts.”
Haseena took a deep breath and opened her notebook. “Page number 74... reinforcement theory ka part samajh nahi aaya.”
Anubhav leaned forward, their elbows almost touching.
“Reinforcement ka matlab pata hai?”
She nodded, “Haan… kuch aisa jo behaviour ko strong banaye…”
“Jaise tumhari muskurahat mera din strong banati hai?” he added casually, tapping the page.
Her ears turned red. “Sir, main serious hoon.”
“Main bhi toh,” he chuckled, then picked up her pen and wrote a short definition in her notebook. “Yeh lo. Simple kar diya maine. Ab samajh aaya?”
She looked at the page, trying hard to focus. “Aapka handwriting kitna neat hai…”
“Bas handwriting neat hai?” he raised a brow.
She smirked. “Aur bhi qualities hain... lekin sab abhi batane ka mann nahi.”
“Hmmm... main intezaar kar leta hoon,” he said, eyes softening.
Just then, a student peeked inside, and Anubhav immediately stood straight, flipping a textbook open.
Haseena too jumped up. “Main chalti hoon sir!”
“Kal aur doubts lekar aana,” he said without looking at her. “Padhai bhi zaruri hai… aur tum bhi.”
She blushed, hurried out, and as she walked down the hallway, she couldn’t stop smiling.
