Upon opening his eyes, Tanjiro found himself lying in the bushes of an unfamiliar forest. He knew he was near the region of the Corporation's Headquarters, but had no idea how far away he was or exactly where he was located. When he tried to get up, his body passed right through the bush, and only then did he remember that he had returned as a spirit.
His crimson aura was bright, but his form was obscure and slightly undefined. Thanks to the intangibility of a spirit, Tanjiro was able to explore the forest with great ease. It took him a few minutes to find a trail, where either side would lead him to a nearby village or perhaps the mansion of an important family. A little undecided, Tanjiro ultimately chose the left path.
After walking for a long time, the red-haired boy/spirit finally arrived in a populated area. It wasn't a large village, but it was a good place to start gathering the information he needed. Tanjiro floated into the town without worrying about hiding from the villagers' gaze until he finally reached a house. In front of it was a small shop selling steamed dumplings, surrounded by children playing and women buying the available dumplings. Tanjiro decided to stay there to observe the village's activity and listen to the conversations of the villagers.
— Two meat dumplings and one seaweed dumpling, please! - a young and beautiful woman handed money to the vendor, who promptly delivered the requested dumplings.
Next, two children approached — one receiving a meat dumpling and the other a seaweed dumpling. "Could she be the older sister of these two?", Tanjiro wondered about the identity of that young woman, but he decided to continue walking around the city, never truly discovering whether she was the older sister or the mother of those children. "They are so happy, the scent in the air is full of joy and tranquility... But why do I have the feeling that something bad is about to happen?", Tanjiro wondered as he walked through the city, sensing an unusual atmosphere.
With these thoughts in mind, Tanjiro noticed a person standing out among all the others. For the red-haired man, there was something strange about that person — the scent emanating from their skin and hair was extremely familiar to Tanjiro, to the point where he thought of them as if they could be his caregiver. Despite this, Tanjiro couldn't recognize their beautiful and youthful face — only their light-colored Haori with pink details, an identical Haori to what Shinobu wears in the future.
Driven by curiosity and instinct, Tanjiro approached the person and realized it was a beautiful young woman — slender and graceful — radiating a mesmerizing smile and a floral fragrance that could lift anyone who sensed it, whether male or female. Tanjiro remained entranced by her beauty for several minutes until a detail snapped him out of his trance.
The young woman carried a Katana with her — more precisely, a Nichirin blade.
"A demon slayer? No, she's strong... Extremely strong, even stronger than Shinobu. Could she be a Pillar? But I've never seen her in the future... Has she retired?", he questioned once again in his thoughts, following the young woman's steps.
Even more curious than before, Tanjiro ended up following her wherever she went. He saw her interact gently with the villagers and paid attention to how she gathered information at an incredible speed without any extra effort on her part. All she did was ask a single question, and soon an entire conversation unfolded like magic. Accompanying her was also highly beneficial for Tanjiro, as the redhead could gather extremely useful information for his mission — such as records of strange events, in short, demon activities.
However, it was during one of these conversations that Tanjiro discovered the hunter's identity — who would soon reveal herself as a pillar, and not just any...
