"This is terrible. The composition of his poison is different. It's much stronger than it should be. Their strengths and powers as Upper Moons have also increased, and now Daki seems to be on the same level as Gyutaro in the previous timeline. Moreover, they're the Fourth Upper Moon instead of the Sixth... Who are the fifth and sixth moons if they're the fourth?", Tanjiro pondered, mentally visualizing what he needed to do to win this battle. Kanao was injured, and although Nezuko was fit to fight, her berserker form wasn't at its peak power, which meant that losing to an Upper Moon was still possible for Nezuko.

There was no other choice. He had to take the lead; otherwise, his friends, his beloved, and his sister would all end up dead because of him.

— Whether we'll come out of this alive or not, fate will decide. Until then... - Tanjiro raised his nichirin once more, ready to attack. — We'll fight to the end!

The battle was about to unfold, and the atmosphere grew increasingly suffocating. A sense of imminent attack weighed on both demon slayers and demons. For two silent minutes, no one made a move, fearing what the opponent's next step might be.

Tanjiro, hoping to witness a bit more of the demon siblings' new abilities, didn't want to risk waiting any longer. He firmly gripped his sword and charged directly at Gyutaro, completely ignoring Daki and hurling Gyutaro far away so that one wouldn't interfere with the other's fight.

— Don't even think of going after your sister. Your fight is with me! - he exclaimed, pressing his sword until its crimson blade glowed with accumulated heat. The atmosphere heated up too, rising by about five degrees in an instant.

— You're quite strong and handsome, aren't you... and that girl, she seems to be your fiancée. Am I right? - Tanjiro didn't react to the provocation; it wasn't necessary. Kanao's warning about the poison was enough of a response. Gyutaro's goal was merely to taunt Tanjiro. — How fortunate... but that luck ends today!

An explosion. Solar flames erupted, obliterating the surrounding houses and reducing everything to ashes. In an exchange too fast for the naked eye to perceive, streaks of red light raced through the evacuated streets of the district, leaving destruction in their wake. During the clash, Tanjiro suffered a minor cut on his arm, becoming infected by the poison.

The clock was ticking. Now, it was a battle against time.

— Sun Breathing, Sixth Form: Burning Bones, Summer Sun! - A circular motion of Tanjiro's sword creates bands of swirling flames, acting as a shield against Gyutaro's blood scythes. Next, a thrust strikes Gyutaro's stomach. — Seventh Form: Sunflower Thrust!

A small explosion occurs, hurling Gyutaro into the debris. With his regeneration hampered by the crimson blade and the sun's breath, the demon is also racing against time.

— Blood Demon Art, Flying Blood Sickles! - With rapid movements of his scythes, several blood blades are launched in all directions, their trajectories controlled by Gyutaro to encircle Tanjiro from every side.

— Fourth Form: Fake Rainbow! - As the blood blades strike him, Tanjiro's body transforms into a mirage of flames and smoke. As if teleporting, he reappears above Gyutaro. — Fifth Form: Fire Wheel! - With a vertical slash from bottom to top, Tanjiro tears through Gyutaro's back and hurls him toward the ground.

— Ack! You wretched fool! Just give up already! - Gyutaro rises, his wounds regenerating ever more slowly. Some even cease to heal, leaving massive scars on his skin.

Not that it matters. With the body he possesses, one or two extra scars mean nothing.
