⚠️ Short Chapter! ⚠️

◇ Akira's POV: ◇

My gaze slowly shifts to him, and I take a careful step back.

Of course, it was my childhood best friend, the one person I've been trying to avoid, and he is Cole's best friend.

◇ Blake's POV: ◇

Akira Lawson, my childhood best friend who moved to Texas 3 years ago, was right here, standing in front of me.

I blink a few times to make sure that she really is standing in front of me.

I watch as she takes a step back, turns around, and runs to the cafeteria doors.

I stand up and practically yell, "Wait! Akira! Stop running away damn it."

But it's no use. By the time I finish my sentence, she's gone. With another girl tailing behind her, which I'm assuming is her friend.

I look around to see the whole cafeteria staring and whispering at my outburst.

I sit back down and turn to Cole, "Care to explain Cole? How do you know her? And who's the other girl behind her?"

Cole stares at the cafeteria doors for a few more seconds before turning around and sitting across from me.

He looks me straight in the eye and asks, "Blake, is that you-know-who? Your best friend that moved around 3 years ago?"

I nod and say, "Yes, it's her. Also, can you answer my questions? I'm very confused right now Cole."

"I know Akira because I bumped into her yesterday after school. It was because she got detention. We chatted for a while and I thought she was funny and really nice, so I thought to invite her over to our table for lunch today since we are kind of new to the school." Cole says.

I nod and gesture for him to continue.

Cole continues, "I didn't know it was the same Akira as you said because you said she moved to Texas 3 years ago, and I thought it was just a coincidence. When I asked her to join us at lunch today, she said she would if her best friend could come. Her best friend, Ava, is the girl that ran after her."

I couldn't help the hurt I felt when he mentioned her best friend, Ava. She sure moved on quickly.

Even though Cole is a great friend, and I counted him as one of my closest friends, no one will be like what Akira was.

We used to have sleepovers and movie marathons night after night so much so that we would run out of snacks daily because of our sleepovers and movie nights.

"So," I say, "What are we going to do now?"

Cole shrugs, "I don't know man, but I like her. I think we should go find her and see why she fled."

I narrowed my eyes, but shook my head, "She ran Cole, ran! She doesn't want to see me, maybe she doesn't want to be friends anymore. And maybe after these 3 years, she realized that what we had in the past should stay there."

Cole shakes his head and gets up, then proceeds to walk out of the cafeteria, leaving me to drown in my thoughts.

I'm so happy that I found her again, but how long has she been back? Why hasn't she came to find me? Does she know how much I missed her? Missed the times we hung out?

I shake my head and get up.

"Maybe I should find and ask her best friend what happened. She would know, right? What was her name again?" I mumble to myself.

As I walk to the exit, hands in my pockets, I hear her voice.

"Babe! Wait up!"
