C h a p t e r 6 : The Break-up

◇ Akira's POV: ◇

Hiding in the bathroom, Ava hugs me as I quietly take everything in. 

"It'll be okay, Aki. It'll all work out, don't worry." Ava attempts to comfort me.

Beads of sweat form on my forehead and neck, and I mumble, "No, it won't. You saw his expression and everything, he looked so shocked to see me. He wasn't expecting me to be here."

Ava eyes harden, "Aki, he was just surprised to see you because you left 3 years ago. And remember, he never knew you came back right? That's all. That's why he was shocked. If he didn't want to see you, don't you think he would've looked me rather then shocked?"

I sniff and her expression softens. "Maybe, but I don't want to talk to him." I rub my eyes, "I don't even know why I'm so upset."

After I calmed down a bit, I went to wash my face and cool down. 

Then the bell rang, signaling for the next period.

"Let's go," I said.

After hearing a 'mhm', I open the girl's restroom door and walk to the next period.

Last period of the day, finally.

I groaned, waiting for the bell to ring when I suddenly remembered.

Shit. Fuck. I forgot I still need to break up with Leon. Hmm, but I'm not doing it over text, I'm definitely going to embarrass him in front of everybody for his cheating ass.

Leon was considered a popular kid, but me? I stuck with Ava almost all the time, with some occasional friends here and there. But, I'm not those quiet nerds with straight A's. I'm not even close to having straight A's. I have pretty average grades though. 

I text Ava to meet me by my locker, telling her I have something very important to tell her.

When the bell finally rings after 27 minutes, I have a plan all figured out in my head.

First, I'll go to my locker and tell Ava everything.

Second, I'll go find Leon. He should be near his locker waiting for me. He usually brings me home on Tuesdays.

Third, I tell him we needed to break up, and even though I could do it by text as I said, I wanted to embarrass him.

The plan is set. Simple as that. 

I'm going to go get some stuff and meet Ava. 

I see Ava by my locker and jog to catch up to her.

"Hey, Ava!" I say.

She waves at me, "Hey. So, what's with the sudden need for me to come here?"

I quickly go over the plan with her, "...and then I'll break up with him in front of everyone. I want to humiliate him."

Ava nods her head, grins, and says, "Okay. Let's go then. We need to hurry because I need to start studying for the biology exam that's on Friday."

I boop her nose, "You nerd." I cheekily smile. 

Ava scrunches her nose with a smile and we walk over to where I see Leon standing.

I see him on his phone leaning against his locker, waiting for me.

When I get closer to him, he looks up from his phone and stands up straighter.

"Hey babe." He smiles.

He looked over at Ava and said, "And...Akira's best friend."

Ava rolls her eyes and waves.

The two of them never had a good relationship, hence why Ava already hates him and loves the idea of humiliating Leon in front of everyone. She only tolerates him because he's my boyfriend. Well, soon-to-be ex-boyfriend.
