ARREST ME, OFFICER KIM || CHAPTER 30

"You're drunk. You need to get home and rest." You met his gaze with a steady determination. "I was a little tipsy, but I'm sober now. I know what I'm saying. I want to be with you."

Taehyung tried to ignore your request, his concern for your well-being overriding his own desires.

"You'll catch a cold if you stay out here like this," he said, avoiding your eyes. "Let me get my spare coat from the car."

He started to walk towards the car, leaving you standing there, frustration bubbling up inside you, and before you could stop yourself, you yelled after him, "Taehyung, I want to spend the night with you! Why are you avoiding this?"

He froze in his tracks at your outburst, slowly turning to face you, rain still dripping from your hair. He took a deep breath, running a hand through his wet hair as he walked back towards you.

"I understand what you're saying, but you need to rest," he said firmly.

"This isn't the right time." With a frustrated huff, you muttered, "Whatever," and climbed into the car, slamming the door behind you.

Taehyung watched you for a moment, knowing you were mad but believing he was doing what was best for you. He took a deep breath and got into the driver's seat, starting the engine.

The drive was tense, the silence between you heavy and thick. Taehyung glanced at you, trying to break the ice. "My mom and dad are out on a business trip," he began, his tone light, hoping to draw you into a conversation.

"And Namjoon and Soyeon have just moved into their new house." You remained silent, staring out the window, ignoring him. Taehyung sighed, feeling the weight of your anger.

He knew you were upset, but he genuinely believed it was for the best. He continued driving.

As the city lights flickered by, Taehyung tried again. "I was thinking, maybe this weekend we could-"

"Just stop," you cut him off, your voice sharp and cold. "I don't want to talk right now."

Taehyung clenched his jaw, feeling a pang of guilt and frustration. He knew you were mad, but he hoped you'd understand his intentions were good.

The rest of the drive passed in uncomfortable silence, both of you lost in your thoughts. Taehyung parked the car in front of your house.

As soon as the car came to a stop, you unbuckled your seatbelt and reached for the door handle.

"Y/N, wait," Taehyung said, his voice urgent. "I need to explain."

You paused, your hand hovering over the door handle, but you didn't turn to look at him. "There's nothing to explain, Taehyung. I get it. You're just worried about me."

"Exactly," he replied.

"I care about you, and I didn't want to make a decision we might regret later. Please understand that." You sighed, still not turning to face him.

"I understand, Taehyung. But it still hurts."

Before he could say anything else, you pushed the door open and stepped out of the car. Taehyung reached out, trying to catch your hand, but you pulled away, slamming the door shut behind you.

He winced at the sound, watching as you walked away towards your house.

Taehyung leaned back in his seat, running a hand through his hair in frustration. He knew he had done what he thought was right, but it didn't make the situation any less painful.
