a/n: don't forget to comment!!
It was brunch as (y/n) walks down the shopping district of makochi, her goal is furin high today. after her meeting with umemiya, he introduces her to the teenagers whom also attended the school and the kotoha; their favorite cafe owner.
she learned that furin high is an all-boy high school with an interesting reputation. As she approaches the building, she stands by the entrance, gazing up. There were weeds and leaves growing on the school and windows, and the place looked as if it were abandoned..?
she walks ahead anyways and reaches the entrance door where she spots umemiya leaned against the wall, legs crossed and arms crossed like a cool boi, a soft grin on his face as he approaches her, "you made it!" he laughs goodheartedly, making her giggle as well.
the sound escaping her lips made the bofurin leader's ears turn red as he rubs the back of his neck, eyes averted.
"so this is...furin?" (y/n) mumbles in curiosity, looking around her with eyes, "...this place looks deadbeat.."
"....😶....."
"....👀...."
umemiya smiles exasperatedly at her, following her gaze as he nods, "well, deadbeat or not. this is the pride and joy of our gang." he leads them to the entrance, pulling open the door for her to let her in first.
(y/n) thanks him for his chivalry, noting that not all men have such values embedded in them.
the school was a far cry from the sterile, controlled environments she heard about. There was a sense of untamed energy, a raw pulse that vibrated through the very walls.
graffiti covered almost every surface, vibrant colors and bold strokes proclaiming the presence of a different kind of order, one that didn't rely on authority or rules.
she was also beginning to realize the moment she stepped into this building, there was no sign of adult presence. it made her brows furrow in confusion, cause aren't schools supposed to have at least someone watching over?? or maybe there is head principal but they're not...there..?
(y/n) squinted at the graffiti-covered walls, a stark contrast to the pristine school buildings she was used to, "soooo...no teachers?" she asked, eyeing umemiya with raised eyebrows, puckering her lips.
umemiya, with his signature laidback grin, shook his head, "nope. this is our turf. We handle things ourselves. but since this is a school, we do have the occasional adult come 'round and check the place." ah, good to know this building wasn't completely abandoned..—
"and...just what do you handle?" (y/n) responds back, glancing at a particularly crude drawing depicting a cartoon version of umemiya with exaggerated features. Hehe, that looks funny...—
Her hands are intwined behind her back as she glances at the white-haired male in curiosity. their steps slow as they took their time and walked the hallways.
"we protect this town," umemiya says, his voice steady, "from threats both seen and unseen. we keep the people safe, their memories and dreams guarded."
(y/n)'s brow furrowed, she certainly did not expect such an answer, "wow, that sounds...intense."
"it is," umemiya acknowledged with a faint smile, "but it's necessary. we're a different kind of school here, (y/n). We learn to protect, to defend ourselves and others." He took a deep breath, "we learn to fight." so dramatic...
(y/n)'s gaze shifted to the graffiti, recognizing a familiar symbol - the same one she'd seen on the street fighters' jackets (a pin on their collars).
"you're into that kind of thing too, huh?" she light heartedly mocks, earning a grin and a shake of the head.
unemiya nods, "we use our skills for good, (y/n). We're Bofurin, protectors of makochi."
(y/n), despite her initial skepticism, felt a spark of respect ignite within her. The way umemiya spoke, the fierce loyalty he held for his group had her slowly understand his goals. there was more than just this brother-hood..
"so, what do you do to protect people's dreams?" she asked, her voice softer now, eyelashes fluttering subconsciously.
umemiya's eyes softened slightly, "we fight for them, (y/n). We make sure that the darkness doesn't consume them." He paused, looking at the graffiti again, "you see, this town is a reflection of the people. If their dreams and memories are forgotten, the town darkens. It's our job to keep them bright."
(y/n) looks at the graffiti one last time, now seeing it as a symbol of the furin boy's fight, its struggle, its resilience. It was a far cry from the unhinged and disorderly life of her own world, but there was a raw honesty here, an untamed spirit that resonated deep within her.
"i think I'm starting to understand," she says, a new respect building in her voice, "what do you say, umemiya? Maybe we can work together to protect this town." she glances at him with anticipation.
umemiya's lips parted as he gazes at (y/n) in awe and admiration. when he invited her, he did not expect for her to want to help after answering her questions.
the Bofurin weren't just a gang; they were guardians, protectors. they fought not for their own gain, but for something bigger, something that resonated with her own internal compass.
As they walked deeper into the school, each graffiti-laden wall, each vandalized classroom, chipped away at her skepticism. she saw not chaos, but a unique kind of order - an order born out of the ashes of a broken system.
And for the first time, (y/n) found herself drawn to the Bofurin, not just for their strength, but for their purpose, for their unwavering dedication to protecting the dreams and memories of those who needed it most.
umemiya leads her to the rooftop where she finds a garden of seedlings planted everywhere along with a table and other stuff.
"it's not my morale to bring females into our fights nor include them, as all girls are precious," umemiya meant (y/n) as well as he says this, glancing at the girl as she looks at him owlishly, "but i can tell you'll hate me if i actually decline your offer. i see your potential, (y/n) and i cannot stop you if you wish to help us, i just want you to know that us...bofurin, will do everything in our power to make sure you are also safe and protected as well."
(y/n) gapes at him as umemiya grins softly at her, woah..
(y/n) turns away after giving him a grin, "well, i don't actually need a knight in shining armor, but i'm sure you'll go ahead and do that anyways." she snickers, approaching the plants, "....this is a beautiful garden by the way, who planted them?" she lightly touches the leaf of a okra seedling as umemiya watches her with a relaxed state.
"thanks, i planted them all myself. I just really love gardening and food." he deeply expresses, making her giggle as she goes back to eyeing the plants with awe. she can't deny, the man has some dedication there.
unbeknownst to her, umemiya felt a tingle in his stomach as he watches how the sun's rays cast on (y/n), glowing her body in its light. she is absolutely beautiful...—
At first, his initial meet was to decipher what her intentions are but after hearing what the townspeople had said about her prior (he was doing investigating), and getting to know her a little more and her personality, he realizes she was a kind and caring person and would not hesitate to stand up and protect anyone in need.
ENJOY!!!
