33: Lips On Yours

the wind whipped (y/n)'s hair as she stood at the border between where bofurin and shishitoren territory was. This was her third trip back in as many weeks.

the female stepped onto the familiar, dusty streets of the opposing territory. her heart thumped with a rhythm she couldn't quite place - a mix of anticipation and something akin to...longing. It had been a while since she last saw togame and choji, and the pangs of missing them had finally driven her back.

(y/n) was originally headed to the old theatre but was stopped mid-way when she heard an energetic voice calling out to her. she swivels her head around, locating the person.

"(y/n)! you're back!" choji exclaims, his brown eyes sparkling, "we missed you so much! And guess what? we're going to the arcade!" he greeted her with a hug and a stream of excited chatter about the latest arcade game.

togame's greeting was a surprise; a flicker of something undefinable in his usually placid eyes. It reminded (y/n) of a butterfly, a fleeting sensation that was gone as quickly as it arrived. he stood with a bottle of cherry ramune in his hand, amusement playing on his usually lazy face, "(y/n)," he greets, his voice laced with a warmth.

she nods at him, turning back to the curious situation at hand, "arcade? you two?" (y/n) raised an eyebrow. It wasn't exactly the usual shishitoren activity.

"it's a new one, (y/n)!" choji practically vibrated with excitement, "with laser guns and zombies! You have to try it!" he mimics gun shooting.

togame cleared his throat, "actually, it was choji who wanted to go." he points out, drinking some of his cherry ramune. let me pop your cherry.....jkjkjk..—

"so, are you coming along??" choji asks her. (y/n) grins, welp, she did come to see them, so it makes no sense to walk all the way back for nothing.

"sure...!"

togame's lips twitched, a faint smile tugging at the corner of his mouth, his eyes lingering on (y/n) and finding her behavior cute.

As they walked towards the arcade, (y/n) found herself caught in the middle of a silent competition she didn't even know was happening. togame, usually laidback and lazy, found himself drawn to her side, offering a hand to help her over a particularly rough cobblestone pathway. choji, on the other hand, would subtly weave himself into their conversation, his laughter echoing around them, filling every empty space between them.

(y/n), though confused, felt a warmth radiating from both togame and choji. Yet, the way they both looked at her, the subtle touches, the underlying tension - it was all too much..!

"...why are you both acting so weird?" she blurted out, the words tumbling out of her mouth before she could stop them. oops..!—

both togame and choji looked startled. they both held a competitive smirk, a silent communication that (y/n) couldn't decipher.

"we're not acting weird," choji says, his usual high spirits suddenly subdued, "we're just...happy to see you."

togame, for his part, simply nodded. He averted his gaze, his face a mask of impassivity, not revealing his true feelings..

(y/n), however, wasn't convinced. she felt a prickle of suspicion, a growing sense of bewilderment. mhm...

"but...why do you keep pulling on my arm?" she asks, glancing at choji confused. poor girl..—

choji grins, subtly glaring at togame, "i'm trying to show you I'm a good friend and I'm excited!" he lies.

"...then why does togame keep trying to walk with me?" she points out. togame was attempting to walk closer by her side but choji..!
