Avengers Compound
Now

A FLASH BLINDED them as they arrived back on the platform of the time travel machine. They removed their time travel suits. Looking around still in disbelief, Bruce was the first one to speak up.

"Did we get 'em all?", he asked.

"Are you telling me this actually worked?", Rhodey asked with a big smile.

Suddenly, though, a small thud filled the air as Clint fell on his knees on the platform. His gaze was locked on the ground and beside him Natasha had tears in her eyes as she tried her best not to break down in front of everyone.

They all turned to them and looking around they held confused gazes as they didn't see Cameron anywhere.

"Clint, Nat, where's Cameron?", Tony asked confused.

The two just couldn't answer. They just slowly looked up at him, tears streaming down their cheeks.

Tony felt his heart shatter in a million pieces. It was happening all over again. She couldn't be gone again, right? But he knew that this time she wasn't coming back.

"No", he muttered feeling a lump forming in his throat.

The soft breeze flowed in the air as they were now in a small platform on the lake outside the compound. Tony had already cried all his tears. He had locked himself in his room at the compound and just let out everything. They were all devastated.

For each of them she had some sort of meaning and hearing of her death was just so painful for everyone. This wasn't supposed to happen.

"Was there really no other way?", Tony slowly asked, his voice hoarse from crying too much.

"There was no other way, Tony", Natasha slowly replied as she leaned back on the chair she was on, hiding her face in her hands.

"What? What are you doing?", Thor suddenly asked Tony almost angrily.

"Just asked them a question", Tony replied calmly, not wanting to argue in that moment.

"Yeah, no, you're acting like she's dead. Why are we acting like she's dead? We have the stones, right? As long as we have the stones, we can bring her back, isn't that right?", Thor said raising his voice a bit. "So, stop this shit. We're the Avengers. Get it together."

"Stop it", Natasha muttered.

"What?", Thor asked not having heard what she had said.

"Just stop it!", she suddenly shouted sitting up straighter. "She's gone! We can't bring her back! It can't be undone!"

Thor only slowly started laughing as he spoke up again.

"Look, I'm sorry, no offense, but you two are very earthly beings, okay? And we're talking about space magic. And 'can't' seems very definitive. Don't you think?", Thor told her and Clint.

"Yeah, look, we know we're way outside our pay grade here. But she still isn't here, is she?", Clint told him before starting to get tears in his eyes again. "It can't be undone. Or that's at least what the red, floating guy had to say! Maybe you wanna go talk to him, okay? Go grab your hammer and you go fly and you talk to him!", Clint shouted at him and Thor shut up, realising that he was right.

"It was supposed to be me", Clint slowly said, tears now in his eyes.

"Or me. It was never meant to be Cameron. Believe me we both tried so hard to stop her, but she didn't let us save her. She did it for us, for all of us", Natasha said, tears also streaming down her cheeks.

"She sacrificed her life for that damn stone. She bet her life on it", Clint added.

"She's not coming back. We have to make it worth it. We have to", Bruce suddenly said making everyone turn to him.

"For her", Tony slowly added taking a deep breath as he tried to keep his tears once again.

"We will", Steve said as he stood up. He was thinking about Bucky, too. What he would have thought once he would have come back and Cameron wasn't there. He was doing this for both of them, too.
