Beyond Déjà Vu

Each word you say, each time we laugh,
I feel I'm walking a known path,
As if our hearts have danced this tune,
Beneath the stars, under the moon.

I search your face for any clue,
A reason why I feel I knew,
Maybe you think I don't know you,
But my feelings say otherwise too.

The way you smile, the things you say,
The memories of some past day,
Talking to you feels like a clue,
To a past life, in déjà vu.

Are you the same, or is it a game?
Am I finding him in every name?
Is this a trick my mind does play,
Or is it real, here today?

I don't know how this will end,
But I hope you’ll be a gentle friend.
If we drift apart once more,
I'll try to close this open door.

I'll hope to clear what's left behind,
The echoes still within my mind,
And even as we say goodbye,
Déjà vu will softly sigh.
