River didn't know how much time had passed, yet it felt like an eternity. Murphy had bound Jasper to a chair, gagged him, and proceeded to do the same to River, except he tied her to the ladder. Her wrists hurt from the many attempts she'd made at ripping her hands out of the robe.

Murphy was pacing back and forth. It was clear he didn't have an elaborate plan.

"MURPHY, IF YOU EVEN TOUCH EITHER IF THEM, I SWEAR TO GOD YOU'RE DEAD!!"

Murphy rolled his eyes, hearing Octavia scream outside. He went and crouched down in front of River, his cold expression softened, "I'm sorry, it wasn't my intention to get you mixed up in all of this" he told her. "You're the only person in this hell hole that actually seem to like me".

River tried to speak, though her words got muffled by the gag in her mouth. Murphy noticed this and removed it. "Why are you doing this?" she asked, her breath ragged.

"It's not about you... it's about Bellamy. He pushed the crate under me, not caring if I died" his face turned cold suddenly, a smirk playing on his lips as he stood up. "You know what? I just got a great idea. Why kill Bellamy, when I can kill the girl he loves instead?".

Jasper, who had regained consciousness shouted and struggled against his restrains.

"It'll hurt him a great deal more" Murphy muttered under his breath.

River felt her entire body shaking, cause when she saw the look on Murphy's face... she knew he could do it. She could be dead.

"You're sick..." she said, shaking her head slowly, "I stood up for you! Protected you when no one else did!" she screamed at him.

Murphy's face faltered, though only for a split second before he regained his tough stance. Swallowing, he spoke, "I'm sorry, River. But I have to do this".

"No, you don—"

River's disagreements were silenced by Murphy pulling the gag back into her mouth. In the same moment Bellamy's voice sounded through the radio.
