River watched as Clarke crumbled up the map she'd scribbled on for the past few days, throwing it onto the floor. She kept quiet, and let her eyes wander up to the others walking around the mess hall. Her eyes fell upon a certain man. . . the same exact man that was covered in blisters only hours ago. Now, he could easily walk himself, and only had a few remaining wounds on his face and arms.
"Clarke, am I hallucinating or is that the man with the blisters?" River whispered, never letting her eyes leave the man.
Clarke looked just as shocked, "No, that's definitely him." she confirmed. "But, how can that be?"
The man brushed past them and kept walking.
River thought fast, "We have to follow him. See where he goes to get his treatment."
Clarke nodded in agreement, following her lead. Shortly after the man turned a corner and headed for an elevator where he swiped his card and entered, disappearing from their sights.
Clarke turned to River, "We have to get in there."
"Definitely." she swallowed. "But, how?"
River glanced at Clarke, knowing by the look on her face she had a plan.
"Follow me." Clarke said, moments later.
River followed her back to their dormitory, "Clarke, what are we doing in here?"
Observing the room to make sure they were alone, Clarke scurried over to one of the beds.
"Only patients are allowed in medical, remember?" Clarke repeated something Dr. Tsing had said the day beforehand.
"Yeah, I remember. But, what does it have to do with this?"
Next thing River knew, Clarke had found a sharp metal end of the bed, removed her bandage from her stitched forearm, and proceeded to rip the wound back open with the metal end.
"Clarke! What are you—"
"We have to know." Clarke gasped in pain, blood seeping from her torn wound.
It took River a second to realise what she meant by that as she let her eyes fall down to her own thigh. She bit her lip before pulling her pants up to access her recovering wound and removed the bandage.
River took a deep breath, "Please, let them be alive." she muttered just before she did the same to her wound as Clarke had done to hers.
***
The door to medical shut, meaning Dr. Tsing had left. River was hesitant to open her eyes again as she gazed over at Clarke lying in a nearby bed.
