Clarke and River entered the mines in hurry, both nearly out of breath; no stops had been made on their way, both of them entirely focused on saving their people. As they turned a corner, Octavia appeared. Her sword was drawn, probably expecting the enemy."Octavia, you stayed," Clarke said, seemingly surprised.
River wasn't the slightest surprised; she knew she would've never left without her brother.
"Screw you," Octavia sneered as she spun back around. "Of course I stayed. I know where my loyalties lie."
Clarke pushed past Octavia. "We have to get in there."
"If that was possible do you think I'd still be out here?" Octavia asked, grabbing ahold of Clarke's arm to pull her over to a metal wagon.
River felt her breath hitch as she laid eyes on a lifeless body. In a split second, she felt taken back to the day she, Clarke, Ash, and Anya attempted to escape. The day had been haunting her ever since.
"Why did Lexa sound the retreat?" Octavia questioned.
Clarke started to move towards the door as she explained. "She made a deal with Mount Weather. Freed the grounders."
River sighed, finishing Clarke's sentence. "We're on our own," she concluded, following Clarke up to the door.
Just then, Clarke raised her hand to bang against the steel door, only to be ripped away by the girls behind her. Not long after she started to pace back and forth, trying to come up with a solution. Out of nowhere she pulled out a gun that was tucked in her pants and pointed it to the code panel on the wall.
"What's wrong with you?" Octavia rushed to push down the gun.
"I am getting through that door!"
"And that's your plan?"
An argument soon broke out between the blonde and brunette. In the meantime, River dashed over to the code panel, desperately looking for any clues of what the code might be. Fingerprints or so. Her mind was cloudy. Clearly, cause normally she would've known that the Mountain Men wears gloves at all times almost. Bellamy brushed her mind and she grew more and more desperate. She needed to get through that door. To get to him. Groaning, she banging against the panel. And when all hopes seemed lost, a beeping sounded from the door.
River felt herself stumble back a bit when she locked eyes with Bellamy walking through. Completely and utterly shocked she forget to breathe. His eyes softened in an instant as he laid eyes on her. Time seemed to stop in that moment.
"River," his voice was soft enough to make her heart ache and she didn't waste a second before jumping into his arms.
"You're okay, you're okay," River proceeded to mumble into his shoulder. She gripped tightly onto the Mount Weather uniform material, not wanting to ever let him go.
Bellamy sat her down again and gently cupped her face in his hands. She couldn't help but notice the way his eyes glossed.
"You did it, Bell."
A smile tugged on his lips as he went to hug his sister next. River brushed past him, to hug Monty and Jasper who walked in after him. At last, a person in a hazmat suit scurried in.
"She's with us, don't worry," Jasper assured River when he noticed her back up a bit. As soon as she heard that, she realised who it was.
"You're Maya?"
The girl nodded.
"Can I hug you?"
Her question spiked Maya, probably not expecting it. Soon after, she sent her a nod of approval.
