Sage Taylor
I walked downstairs and looked at my siblings who were sitting in the living room, they all gathered around the table fixing decorations. I mentally rolled my eyes, they know I do not like celebrating my birthday.
"Uh hi." I mumbled.
"Good morning, and happy birthday." Sylvia smiled standing.
"Finally 18." Saint said embracing me in a hug.
"Thank you." I chuckled.
"How are you feeling?" Sylvia asked.
"I'm ok, after a much needed shower. I'm fine...I just want to know how this works." I said.
"And we are here to help." Sylvia smiled.
"All of us." In-Yeop added.
I smiled.
"Where's dad?" I asked.
"I'm here, I see you're up." He smiled coming out the kitchen.
He pulled me into a tight hug and let out a breath of relief.
"I'm glad you're ok." He said.
"Me too." I said.
"Your mother left me this...for you. She must've known something I didn't." He chuckled.
He passed me an old journal before I looked at him.
"What is this?" I asked.
"Her journal entries, it's filled with when she first transformed. I figured this will help you along the way." He said.
"Thank you dad." I smiled.
"She read my mind earlier." In-Yeop blurted out.
"Oh my god." I groaned.
"Really?" Sylvia asked.
"Mhm." He nodded.
I sat down as I watched them interact with one another and smiled.
"It wasn't that serious." I sighed.
"You're literally the only person in our family who can read minds." Saint said.
"I mean, I guess it is kind of cool." I laughed.
"Damn right." Sylvia smiled.
"So what now?" I asked.
"We train you to manage your powers responsibly." Dad said.
I nodded.
"I know how much you hate training but it's for your own good. We don't want you to hurt others or yourself." Sylvia said.
"I understand." I smiled.
I locked eyes with In-Yeop and smiled.
"It is your birthday, so why aren't we celebrating?" He asked.
"Guys please no." I shook my head.
"Too late." Sylvia said.
I watched as my father and Saint bring out a cake with the number 18 on it. I groaned and covered my face as they began to sing happy birthday.
"Make a wish." In-Yeop smiled.
I giggled before closing my eyes and blowing out the candles. They clapped and cheered causing me to shake my head.
I heard a knock on the door as I grabbed a plate.
"I'll get it." Saint said walking away.
"What did you wish for?" Dad asked.
"If I tell you then it won't come true now would it dad?" I asked glancing at him.
He chuckled and pat my head.
"Sage...it's for you." Saint said.
I scrunched my face up before placing the plate down. I walked toward the door with In-Yeop hot on my tail.
"Hi." Dong-Min smiled.
I looked at him and folded my arms.
"Happy birthday." He said.
I locked eyes with him.
"God I've missed seeing that smile."
I closed my eyes and shook my head.
"You ok?" In-Yeop asked.
"Uh yeah, Dong-Min what are you doing here?" I asked.
"Well, I thought about our last conversation and...I don't mind being just friends with you." He said.
I locked eyes with him and smiled.
"Even if it kills me to see you kissing this mutt."
"Now he wants to come around, fucking doofus."
"Can you guys keep your thoughts to yourself." I snapped.
"Sorry." In-Yeop mumbled.
"You can read minds?" Dong-Min smiled.
"It's a lot I can do, we should talk." I said.
"Ok." He nodded.
"Are you sure?" In-Yeop asked.
I looked up at him.
"I don't think you should tell him."
"Uh about our friendship of course." I said.
Dong-Min smiled before I stepped aside.
"Come in." I said.
