The morning bustled with the energy of impending challenges as Cosimo emerged from his hotel room, freshened up and ready to face the day. Decked out in his favorite Adidas tracksuit, he was preparing for a rigorous day ahead. Just as he finished checking his gear, a sharp knock echoed through the room. He opened the door to find Abby standing there, a hint of a smile on her face.
"Hello there, mom," Cosimo greeted warmly.
"Hey, Cosi," Abby replied, mirroring his grin. "You ready to roll to the studio? Gia's already waiting in the lobby."
"Let's do it," Cosimo said, grabbing his essentials and following Abby towards the elevator. "By the way, I heard last night that Cathy and her crew are planning to be at the competition."
Abby scoffed. "Surprise," she muttered sarcastically.
"Yeah, exactly," Cosimo agreed.
They made their way down to the lobby where Gianna was waiting, her excitement palpable. Pleasantries exchanged, the trio headed out, walking briskly through the New York City streets towards the subway station.
As they navigated the bustling subway system, Gianna couldn't help but ask, "So, are you guys still debating who gets 'The Last Text' on The View? Asia or Mackenzie?"
Abby sighed. "It's a tough call. One minute we lean towards Asia, the next towards Mackenzie. We'll finalize it during today's rehearsal at The View."
The R train arrived, and they boarded, settling in for the short journey downtown. Emerging from the 28th Street station, they made their way to Stepping Out Studios, a renowned dance venue where they would rehearse for both The View and the upcoming dance competition.
"Cool place," Cosimo remarked as they approached the building.
"Definitely," Abby agreed. "We made good time getting here."
Inside the studio, preparations were already underway. Abby gathered the team and their mothers, setting the tone for the week ahead.
"Alright, here we are in the Big Apple," Abby began, the room buzzing with anticipation. "This week, we're gearing up for the Masters of Dance competition in Bernardsville. It's going to be tough, and we're definitely the underdogs. Plus, word is Cathy's lurking around here, gearing up to cause trouble."
The mothers exchanged knowing glances, memories of past encounters with Cathy fresh in their minds.
"Let's focus on today," Abby continued, transitioning to the day's agenda. "First up, rehearsals for 'The Last Text' on The View. Asia, you'll be taking that role."
Asia beamed with excitement, while Mackenzie, who had been part of the winning team from the previous year, tried to hide her disappointment. Melissa, Mackenzie's mother, couldn't stay quiet.
"Abby, Mackenzie has been here from the start. She deserves a chance," Melissa interjected.
Abby shook her head gently. "Melissa, we love Mackenzie, but she hasn't been dancing with us lately. Asia's been putting in the work."
Melissa looked torn, but Abby's decision stood firm. The rehearsal began, with the moms watching from the lounge adjacent to Studio A.
Outside the studio, tensions brewed among the mothers. Melissa sought advice from the other moms, hoping to sway Abby's decision.
"What do you think will happen?" Holly asked, concerned.
"I'm not sure. Abby seems set on Asia," Melissa replied, frustration evident in her voice.
Back in Studio A, Abby and Cosimo called Mackenzie over. They spoke to her about stepping up her game, unaware that Melissa was listening from the lounge.
