Dressed in a short sleeved blank jumpsuit, Safiyya sat before the mirror on the vanity table brushing her hair. She carefully packed it into a bun, smoothing the edges with her fingers. She then smiled and gazed at her new wristwatch. Time to show her son because yesterday was so busy than she expected that they only got a chance to call without seeing each other. She stood up and went to settle on the neatly arranged white bed. Picking her tab, she gave Jessy a call.
After a few rings, Jessy’s face popped up, her blonde hair in a messy bun. She smiled seeing her best friend.
“Good morning bestie,” Safiyya grinned at her.
“Morning to you angel,” Jessy replied cheekily. “Look at you, glowing white skin in the morning.”
“Stop it,” Safiyya giggled. “How is Yousef? Is he awake?”
“Of course he's awake. For the weekend, I had to wake up at by six and cook breakfast,” Jessy whined, earning a chuckle from her best friend. She knew how Jessy slept during weekends, like they both do until she adapted while living with Yousef.
“Quit complaining dear. Where is my baby?” She asked.
“I'm taking it to him right now,” Jessy uttered and walked over to the living room where Yousef was reading a story book. Not to say, it shocked Jessy because she was sure he was playing with his toys and making noises. Did he become obedient after hearing his mother's voice? What??
“Here you go,” she still handed the phone to him.
“Mummy!” Joseph exclaimed excitedly to see his mummy’s face.
“Salam Yousef!” Safiyya also waved at him with the same enthusiasm. “Have you been a good boy to Aunt Jessy?” she narrowed her eyes to which he bobbed his head and raised his book. “I'm focused on my books,” he smiled which left Jessy agape. She shook her head and continued her work as the two kept talking.
“Thats good baby. Keep it,” Safiyya gave him a thumbs up.
“Where is Daddy?” he asked innocently, making her tongue tied. Yeah, where is he? She was drove to this hotel late and shown her room but she didn't know where Alfred was. Before she could come up with what to tell him, she heard a knock…on the wall.
A knock on the wall? Safiyya was startled thinking it was her ear.
“Mummy, is that Daddy?” Yousef asked curiously and the knock was heard again. It was coming from extreme end of the wall. “Are you dressed yet?” she heard that familiar deep voice. How is…
“Yeah?” she muttered still unsure of what was happening. To her amazement, the ‘wall’ shifted open and he walked into the room. Was what just happened and how he walked out through the wall to her room that smashed her though or how he was dressed up that left her hanging?
The wall-door closed behind him and he walked over dressed in a dark maroon suit with blue shirt and maroon tie. The color was something she had never seen him in and it looked damn good on him, especially with how intricately he styled his hair.
“Are you speaking with Joseph?” he asked, coming to sit beside her. Starting a conversation was the best way to take his eyes off her, especially with her milky white skin exposed. Even Safiyya gulped because she's never sat so exposed before. She just has to give a tight smile.
“Oh good morning Dad!” Joseph greeted happily.
“Morning son. How are you?” Alfred returned softly.
