October, 2000There's a great saying—it's only when a person dies, that's when you realize its importance.
That's what happened with Satoru Gojo. When he was a kid, he used to spend ample time with his parents, but as he grew up, he used all his time training or messing around with others.
He thought he had time. Enough time in his lifetime to spend with his mother.
It was that night when he was informed; that the time had ended.
Tears railing through his eyes—staining his soft white cheeks—ran giving a burning sensation over his cheeks, as he scrutinized his steps toward the room where the lifeless body of his mother lay.
There were a lot of days and nights he denied that it couldn't be his mother and that it must be some sort of prank—since his mother loved throwing tricks on him.
But the truth was, he had lost her. Forever.
In the midst of all these, his shoulder laid on only one—Y/n's. He hadn't left her room ever since saw the dull gray body. He was terrified but what made him regret his actions was that he had never been there for her last moments.
"Satoru" Y/n cupped his small fluffy cheeks, red and swollen from crying nonstopingly. "Cry as hard as you want today, but this shall be the last night you cry for her"
Satoru's sticky eyelashes followed her shadow, the mind too filled with memories to process her words easily.
"Why~?" His voice was weak and tainted with sobbing. She encircled his body close to him as she hugged him tight into her soft embrace.
"Because Mrs.Gojo would never want you to cry for her""But" His swollen lips parted. "I wasn't there when she was taking her last breath"
"You were there" She smiled while Satoru looked at her confused. "You were present in her heart and I am sure she cherished you the most before losing her breath"
Satoru's lips parted more. He knew, he just knew that his mother would have thought about every last moment spent with him before giving up.
"She must be in the stars, watching you" Y/n continued stroking his cheeks.
"Show her what she wanted to see from you"If his mother was there in the thin air, then there's no way his tears would make her feel at ease. He has to show he is fine so that her soul can rest in peace.
He nods in her feeble embrace, sniffing and a bit panting because of the heavy weeping, earlier.
"Who would take care of me now?" His voice was fragile and trembling. His hands were holding her, as he pushed his head up to look into her gleaming eyes. Why are they so warm? Why are her words, her closeness so comforting? He thought considering how he always needed her in his despair or happiness.
"Who will praise me on my achievements, who will kiss me on my forehead, who will read me a book to my sleep" He scowled a bit, she could see his tensed muscles and feel the grip over her—his pain was intense but inevitable.
