When I got home, I immediately made my way to my parents' chambers. I dropped my knees and knocked on the door, the Spider Lilies clutched tightly in my other hand.
"Come in!" I heard my mother call out from the other side.
I slid the door open, and my gaze immediately trained on my father. The reason he didn't attend the girls' funeral was because he's bedridden, and my mother had to take care of him. The rotting color has spread all over his body, and it affected his sclera, too, making them a deep shade of purple. His eyes were covered in bandages, but that didn't erase how sick he was. He weakly turned his head to face me and gave a small smile.
"Y/N... Is that you...?" He uttered in a raspy voice.
"Yes, father... It's me..." I replied, going over to sit next to him.
I didn't care how disgusted I was. I put a hand on his and sniffled. Looking at him now... It was so sad... Seeing my kind, gentle father in such a state... What did he do to deserve this...
"Father, I got you these Blue Spider Lilies! They should heal you!" I said, offering them to him.
"No, Y/N..."
"Huh...? What do you mean...?"
"The Spider Lilies... They need to be made into a medicine... And making the medicine can take days... The flowers themselves will be useless..."
I shook my head, dropping the Spider Lilies at his side.
"No... No, no!"
"Y/N..."
"No, no, no, no, no!"
"Y/N...!"
The firmness in his voice. It stopped me from having an outburst. I looked into his eyes. Well... what would be his eyes.
"Y/N... My sweet daughter..." He reached up a shaky hand to caress my cheek. "I'm so glad that I was able to see you grow up... You've become a fine young woman... Now... it's time you found your place in the world..."
With those words, his hand fell, and he went limp.
"No..." I uttered, grabbing his shoulder, "Wake up... Please, father, wake up...! Wake up!"
I tried desperately to shake him away, knowing well that my efforts were futile.
"Y/N..." My mother said.
She reached out to touch my shoulder, but I was so overwhelmed with emotions that I couldn't think straight. I pushed her away and ran out of the room. I needed to be alone... Not with anybody... Not even with Yorrichi...
So, I ran out of the palace, ignoring the shouts after me that followed. I ran as fast as my legs could take me until I ran out of adrenaline. Eventually, I collapsed on the ground. At that point, all I could do was cry.
I sobbed my heart out. I wept until my tears dried up, and when they returned, I cried some more. I cried until I was exhausted. When I was done, I only then realized that I had run into the forest.
'Stupid... You're so stupid, Y/N...' I thought, forcing myself to stand up.
Before I could try to find my way out, however, a voice came from behind me.
"You shouldn't have come here."
