It was now morning, and Coral was on her way to the Summer Palace with Anemone. Tsunami followed closely as, according to her mother, she would learn as she watched. During the flight, she noticed how every single Seawing looked well fed and happy. "I knew mother was good queen! Even better than Scarlet will ever be." Tsunami thought before flying towards the council level of the pavilion, where a lot of the council Seawings had arrived. Coral stepped into one of the pools of water. "You can sit there, Tsunami." Coral said while pointing to a smaller pool connecting to the larger one, ignoring Anemone's complaint.
Tsunami did as told, stepping in the pool one talon at a time. "Tortoise is guarding the hatchery at the Deep Palace, so she will not be able to join us." she heard, but didn't really pay much attention to it. All she wondered was why her mother had so many councilors. She heard Moray greeting her mother, but Tsunami did not pay any attention as she glanced to where a plate with stacked pieces of food was being brought, immediately making her stomach growl. She was so hungry. Without another thought she reached over to a bowl of octopus tentacles and grabbed a couple of them, happily slurping them. It was the best thing she ate!
It wasn't until she noticed everyone looking at her, all with looks of shock and disapproval. "Why isn't everyone eating?" she wondered as she slightly shrank back from the many eyes. "Naturally I forgive my long-lost daughter any accidental impudence." Coral stated calmly, all while Tsunami remained frozen. "She was raised by barbarians, so she couldn't know any better. I give you all permission to eat." "What a great first impression at a council, me... acting like a "barbarian" when I'm supposed to act like a good future queen.." Tsunami looked down shamefully, all while Coral gave the call to continue the council meeting.
"Your majesty," Shark began, tapping the stone stand in front of him. "I am deeply concerned about our internal defenses. The intruders in our midst are a danger to us." Tsunami shot him a light glare, knowing full well he meant her friends. "You're more of a danger than them.." "Now, now. Those are our guests, not intruders." Coral corrected while tossing some sliced fish down to Anemone who chomped down on them like a piranha. "Ah good! I thought they could perhaps join us for breakfast-" Tsunami tried to suggest, but Coral shook her head. "Not at a council, dear. But they won't go hungry. Lagoon." She then turned to a light cyan Seawing with a clam shell necklace. "Were they served an ample breakfast?" Lagoon nodded. "Yes, your majesty." "Good, give them the rest of this as well." Coral gestured to the food on the plate and bowl, in which Lagoon carried off.
"Whirlpool. Report." Tsunami almost groaned, already dreading having to hear that sea slug again. "Anemone's lessons are going wonderfully! And your scrolls have never been more popular!" he reported, proudly extending his wings. Moray then added in. "Mostly the underwater editions, of course. I spend all my energy promoting them!" At that point Tsunami zoned out, finding the council boring. "I'll make my own decisions when I'm queen" she thought, then was quickly brought out of her mind when she heard something about "the most important subject in school". "How is it more important than how to fight a war?" she suddenly asked. "Darling, my writing is about everything. What did you think of the scrolls I gave you?" Coral wondered, in which Tsunami paused. She hadn't read the scrolls she was given. "Uhh... "The Missing Princess" is still my fav...orite.."
Coral then turned her attention to the council, turning serious again. "That reminds me. Whirlpool, Tsunami needs lessons in Aquatic. Can you imagine? Poor thing." the kelp green Seawing nodded, stating how he would teach her the underwater language. Coral then turned to Shark. "Shark, continue your report."
The male suddenly had a serious expression, which could probably be his neutral expression. "Still no information about the dead Skywing." he stated, then glanced back slightly as wing beats were heard. "However, a war party returned early this morning with a worrying report." Coral leaned forward onto the stand. "Let's hear it."
Just then, a pair of Seawings arrived onto the level. It was a lime Seawing and a cyan Seawing. Both were injured, but the cyan was worse than the other. Nearly half of his body was terribly burnt and bleeding, causing him to walk in a limp with a wince. The lime Seawing had to hold him up, struggling as he too bled, but not as badly. Tsunami leaned forward with worry, watching as lots of blood poured out from the cyan dragon and onto the floor. Coral let out a tsk as she grimaced, looking down at the now crimson stained floor. "She's more worried about the floor..?"
"Something strange... is happening in the Sky Kingdom- ngh... your majesty.." the cyan Seawing said as best he could through the pain, blood spraying out of his mouth with nearly every word. The lime Seawing joined in, him too bleeding. "It's total chaos... it's as if nobody knows who's in charge anymore." the cyan dragon panted before adding more to it, still grimacing at the pain of the burns. "Three different wings... attacked us.. the first one was half Sandwings... the second one was fighting for their queen... but the soldiers in the third one were shouting "for Ruby!".."
"Ruby?" Coral echoed, now becoming intrigued. "That's one of Queen Scarlet's daughters! Does that mean that Scarlet is dead?" "It's a possibility, your majesty..." the lime Seawing muttered painfully. "If there's chaos happening in the Sky Kingdom, then we might have an advantage in the war.." Coral stated, but didn't seem like she would move a claw to help those dragons. "Shouldn't someone look at their injuries!?" Tsunami immediately exclaimed, not wanting those dragons to die. Finally, Coral nodded. "Very well. Send them to the healers." Once the two were sent off to be healed, Coral went back to focusing. "Whatever could have happened? Queen Scarlet was so strong?" "Errm... that... might have been us..." Tsunami hesitated to say that, nervous on how they would react.
Almost instantly the Seawings around glanced at her with surprise. "You?!" "Ridiculous." Whirlpool and Shark said at the same time. "Queen Scarlet held us prisoner, and when we escaped we... sort of might have killed her.. maybe... I'm not too sure.. but I will say we tried." she mumbled the last part. Coral remained silent before speaking then. "That reminds me... Gill looked ill when you arrived.. just what did Scarlet do to him?" she growled lightly, her brows furrowing. "She... punished him.. took away his water for months." Tsunami explained as she looked down at her talons in the water. "Scarlet had planned on making me fight him, but Starflight.. he warned me and we came up with a plan thanks to the help of Phoenix and two Skywing guards."
"Your odd blue Skywing had Scarlet's guards help you?" Coral seemed cautious, as guards were usually loyal to their queen. Tsunami nodded. "Y-yes, but they never turned us in or raised any attention to us! They're good dragons. Probably the only other Skywings we could trust to help us escape." Coral only hummed, as if debating on whether or not to believe it, but then again Gill is alive and recovering. "Alright then. When will Queen Blister arrive to the palace?" she continued the council. "Tomorrow morning, your majesty." said one of the council Seawings. "Very well." She then turned to a nearby lighter green Seawing. "Is Gill recovering well?" "He is, your majesty. Our healers are putting all their effort into making sure he is healthy again." The queen approved of the report on her husband, hearing that he's doing well on the recovery. "Ah, do make sure Queen Blister's cave is ready for her arrival. Council dismissed."
As the Seawings then began to depart, Coral turned to Whirlpool. "Ah, Whirlpool. Take Tsunami with you for her Aquatic lessons." with that the queen departed along with Anemone. Tsunami screamed internally as she did not want to be anywhere near Whirlpool, although she was curious to see if the lessons would help her. "Well then. Come along." Whirlpool said as he flew down to the water below, with Tsunami following far behind.
