"so, are we going or not?" sunoo asked impatiently, crossing his arms as he eyed the pile of books on the table. he loved spending time with moonbyul, but he'd much rather be anywhere else than stuck in the library studying. the cheesecake he'd spotted earlier that day in a nearby café had been calling his name ever since, and the thought of it had been teasing him all day.

moonbyul sighed, stretching her arms over her head. "yeah, sure, okay." she stood up from her chair, finally ready to leave. sunoo practically jumped to his feet, his excitement barely contained as they gathered their things.

"did you get everything?" sunoo asked, glancing over the table one last time to ensure nothing was left behind.
moonbyul nodded, double-checking her bag. "yep, all good."

with that, they headed out of the library, it was barely 6 PM, the sky was already dark and the cool winter air hits them as they made their way toward the dorms. "i'll go change," moonbyul said, stopping at the entrance. "see you in ten minutes." sunoo nodded, already thinking about the cheesecake again. "got it."

they parted ways, and moonbyul walked to her dorm, her footsteps slowing as she reached the door. she paused for a moment, knocking out of habit before realizing no one was inside to answer. with a small, frustrated sigh, she shoved her hands into her pockets, only to feel the emptiness where her keys should have been. her heart sank as she groaned in frustration. "not again..."

she rushes back to class, that's where she must have forgotten them— or at least that's where she always does. the hallways were deserted and eerily quiet and the silence was a dangerous opportunity for moonbyul to let her mind wander.
as much as she wanted to stop, her thoughts always drifted back to riki.

oh how she wanted to hate him, to feel disgusted when she saw his face. but her heart always stupidly demanded to skip a beat whenever he was near. sometimes their eyes would meet, and those sad glances were the only conversations they had.

moonbyul shook off her thoughts when she reached the classroom, sauntering over to her usual desk. thankfully, her keys were there, under her desk, but a shiver ran down her spine when she saw something that did not belong to her.

a black notebook— riki's diary.

she swallowed thickly, suddenly, it was harder to breathe.
why was it under her desk? had he been sitting there?
deja vu washed over her when she recalled living this very same situation a few months ago. she couldn't help but think of what he could have possibly written, and if it was about her again.

the diary was left open and the pen was still between the pages. moonbyul wondered if he was around and if he would catch her in the act if she dared to read what he had written.
she reached for it but hesitated before her fingers could touch the paper— curiosity killed the cat, right?
but moonbyul wasn't a cat.
