The air around them started feeling heavy the moment Beomgyu stopped speaking. The elder didn't even dare to look up to Taehyun's eyes, too afraid to be judged at.
Beomgyu agreed. He knew it was a completely stupid reason to break up their relationship. He never thought that such a hasty decision would lead him to now almost five years of suffering.
Taehyun felt his throat closing up the moment he tried to open his mouth to speak. He ignored the tears welling in his eyes as he mustered up the strength to talk. His nerves were all over the place.
He wanted to know Beomgyu's reason for breaking up with him for so long. He stayed up nights, wondering where it all went wrong. But now when he finally got to know about the reason, he couldn't believe it.
Beomgyu, who was an extremely confident and loud teenager, was suffering through problems? Taehyun mentally slapped himself for not taking care of his former boyfriend at that time. He wished he knew what was going through Beomgyu's mind. He should have reassured Beomgyu during those times.
If he did, then maybe they would be still in a relationship together. They probably would have had plans for a marriage too. But without this stupid agreement.
Beomgyu felt as if his insides were on the fire due to the amount of anxiousness that was flooding through his body. He slowly lifted his head to look at Taehyun, who seemed as if he was at war with himself.
"W-Why aren't you saying something..?" Beomgyu internally winced at his rough voice, a result of him suppressing his unshed tears.
Taehyun flinched when he heard Beomgyu's voice between the silence that lasted for at least twenty minutes. He shook his head, wiping away the small tears on his waterline with the back of his hand.
"It's just- um, what can I say? I'm a little taken aback after finding out the reason." Taehyun cleared his throat. "I wanted to know about it for years but when I finally did.. I can't even f-find the right words to say." He bitterly smiled.
"I get it." Beomgyu nodded. "I'm sorry for leaving you out in the dark like that for so many years. You didn't deserve that."
"Don't beat yourself over that." Taehyun replied in a soft voice. "I'm sure you did plenty of that in these years."
Beomgyu cracked a smile. Taehyun still knew how to read him like an open book. He was suddenly reminded of those times when he couldn't hide anything from Taehyun. It seems like he still couldn't.
"Although I still won't forgive you for making me suffer like that in the past." And in the tone which Taehyun said that, Beomgyu couldn't decipher if he was joking or was he serious.
It seemed like Taehyun noticed the change of facial expression on Beomgyu's face because he quickly stammered to specify that he was joking. "Hey! I was kidding. Don't pull out your puppy face, it disgusts me."
Taehyun was speechless how Beomgyu's face went from utter dismay to that sneaky smile. "Do you really?" He heard Beomgyu asking him and instantly his cheeks were tainted light pink.
Taehyun cleared his throat, stiffly standing up to walk over to the door, acting as if he was inspecting the big wood door. "When are they going to open this? I feel like I'm slowly being suffocated in here."
"Are you suffocated by me?" Beomgyu raised an eyebrow, a smirk etched on his lips. "Is it because I'm way too hot for you to handle?"
Taehyun coughed, staring at Beomgyu with wide eyes before regaining his composure. "No it's because of the strong smell of your body spray. It's making me nauseous."
