Bad decisions are a lesson that alters your life.
The break Nimrit planned was more difficult for her than for Nivedya. He had lots to do like preparing for his CA entrance, looking into the final details of his sports academy, taking care of his father, helping him recover, and spending time with his newlywed brother and sister-in-law.
Nimrit also had a lot on her plate like planning the disposal of funds she would receive, the colleges she wanted to be admitted to and spying on Arundhati. She had harboured suspicions about Arundhati from the beginning, and those suspicions were confirmed during the wedding.
Arundhati's dresses and jewellery were expensive. A girl living in an NGO who doesn't work part-time or otherwise could not have saved so much to afford such clothes.
Nimrit had spotted her with Imran at the wedding and she was hiding like she feared being caught. She wouldn't have been afraid if he were merely a friend, but something was amiss with the boy, and Nimrit was determined to find out what it was.
With Nivedya not around, she found it easier to work on those details as he would never approve of it. Nimrit wanted to be 100 per cent sure before accusing Arundhati of anything. She was aware that failing to prove her point would only strengthen Nivedya's bond with Arundhati, giving his faith in their friendship new wings.
Before hitting the bed at night Nivedya and Nimrit missed each other terribly and yearned to call off the break. Nivedya found Nimrit's idea and reasons for the break absurd but he agreed to it because the last time when he forced her to share her problems they ended up fighting and hurting each other.
Taking Swarnima as an example he gave Nimrit the space she desired to sort her life out. He knew she was a strong girl who could overcome the worst of nightmares and if she ever felt weak he would be right beside her. The only thing he could not give her was to end his friendship with Arundhati. He could not come to terms with why Nimrit accused her of being an opportunist because Arundhati had not demanded anything from him for the wedding. She used her savings to fulfil her desires by doing chores at the NGO and he was happy to see her work towards achieving her objectives. Nivedya wanted to defend Arundhati but he knew it would only end up in a fight.
Days had passed but Nimrit didn't contact Nivedya as if he didn't exist. However, he crossed the lane of her house daily around the time Nimrit left for the museum. He satisfied himself by watching her from afar and heaving a sigh because he had to kill the urge to hold her close and kiss her rosette lips.
On a Sunday, when the younger clan of Nivedya's family decided to spend the day together doing fun activities, he asked Nimrit if she would like to join.
"I am busy Nivi," Nimrit replied making bullet points of something.
Nivedya felt angry because it had been a long time since she visited the palace and everyone was questioning her sudden disappearance. "It's been long Nimrit. I... Everyone is missing you."
"I miss them too. But I have an interview scheduled with the..."
"Interview... On Sunday?" Nivedya questioned suspiciously and Nimrit bit her tongue because her lie was caught.
She covered it quickly by saying it was an online interview for an online teaching portal. "I have applied for the post of a substitute teacher like a tuition. The job is not hectic and the payment is good so I thought to give it a shot. I'll come to the palace soon."
Nivedya wiped a lone tear at the bay of his eye and hummed in response. He knew she was lying but telling her that would mean an argument and a bunch of more lies she would make up.
