"Ow!" Jake exclaimed, hitting his elbow on the coffee table when he sat down on the couch. "Say sorry that i hurt myself," He says to Johnnie.

"Nope" Johnnie replied.

"Well I'm sorry that you hurt yourself," Jake morbidly jokes... but it was a bit too far for Johnnie.

Johnnie rolled his eyes and smacked Jake on the head with the back of his hand "Dude, shut up."

"Ow!" Jake exclaimed again, rubbing his head. "What was that for?" He asked, clearly not knowing that his joke was offending Johnnie. It went over his head.

Johnnie says,"For making a morbid joke."

Jake pouted and continued rubbing his head. Johnnie just shook his head, still feeling a bit annoyed at Jake's insensitivity.

"I don't get it," Jake replied. Which made Johnnie a bit more pissy, - since Jake joked about self-harm in a morbid way.

Usually they joke a lot with dark humor, but this joke made Johnnie angry.

Johnnie's annoyance turned into anger, and he spoke through gritted teeth.
"Jake, that joke was not funny. It's not something to joke about, especially when it's about harming yourself. You need to learn to recognize when something is inappropriate and offensive."

Jake scoffed, "Okay..? Dude, we joke like this all the time. You even made morbid jokes about your dead dad." He brought up, wrong move.

Johnnie's face turned red with anger, and his voice raised.Don't you dare bring up my dad, Jake! That's different. I make those jokes because it's my way of coping with his death, not because I find it funny. You're crossing a line here."

Jake immediately realized and clamps his mouth shut in regret. But Johnnie was still pissed off and yelling at Jake.

Johnnie continued to yell, his voice filled with anger and frustration. "You never think before you speak!"

Johnnie got up from the couch, towering over Jake. His fists were clenched and his face was red with anger.

"You know what, Jake? I'm sick of your attitude. You think you're so funny, You don't have any empathy. I'm done with this conversation. You need to learn to think before you speak, or else we can't even be friends anymore."

Jake felt his heart begin to break at that. He looked down, avoiding Johnnie's gaze as Johnnie walked upstairs on the verge of tears.

Johnnie slammed the door to his room shut and collapsed onto his bed, burying his face in his pillow.

Tears streamed down his face as he tried to process his emotions. He felt hurt and betrayed by Jake's joke.

Jake stood up from the couch and walked upstairs. Processing that what he said was a bit too much. He went over and knocked on Johnnie's door. "Hey, Johnnie?"

Johnnie heard Jake's knock and reluctantly sat up in bed, wiping away his tears. He took a deep breath and tried to compose himself before answering. "What do you want, Jake?"

"Can i come in so we can talk please?" Jake said at the closed door. Leaning against the wood.

Johnnie hesitated for a moment, still feeling angry and hurt. But he knew they needed to talk this out. He got up from the bed and opened the door, stepping aside to let Jake in."Fine, come in. But this better be good."
