Chapter 37

Yareli

"Ah, I got ya!" Merlieth shouted while quickly grabbing my wrist as we were thrown into another current before she floated against it. "That poison really took a lot out of you, huh?" She asked as I nodded, inspecting her closely as the thin air bubble glowed against her skin. "It's okay, I got you from here. Your Kolsit did a great job before you both got wiped out. We just need to make it a little bit further," Merlieth breathed as I looked down to see her long tail fighting to keep us afloat against the current. Another arm wrapped around my free one as I turned my attention towards the newcomer, slightly surprised to see Honron. "You got her from her?" Merlieth asked as Honron nodded. "Good luck,Yareli! We're counting on you!" She gave me a great big toothy smile before releasing my arm as the current pulled her down into the darkness while Honron held me close before swimming faster.

"Will she be okay?" I asked while looking down at the darkness below us before my eyes fell on Honron's tail. His and Inzeh's were the exact same, but Honron's completely glowed blue. "Wow, that's pretty," I whispered to myself while looking back at Honron as he smiled.

"She will be okay. We just have to focus on getting you to the top immediately before Inzeh does something he probably wouldn't regret," Honron informed me as I nodded. "Remember, when you see him, call him by the nickname we spoke about. Okay?"

"Are you sure that will work with Inzeh? Especially in this condition?" I painfully waved around my hand as Honron hummed in reply. "Why do I keep getting handed off as well?" I added as Honron smiled down at me before spinning. What in the world was he doing? I asked myself as the spinning grew faster, upsetting the delicate nature of my stomach before I went flying through the water. I couldn't make out where or what direction I was going, but I knew by the end of this, I was going to be ill.

A set of arms wrapped around me once again, stopping the spinning as red glowed all around me in the water. "Almost missed you there." Dioris laughed as I frowned up at her. "Sorry, sorry. Now is not the time to make jokes. This is a very serious matter," she added though I could still see the smile tugging at her lips.

"Dioris, what in the hell is going on?"

"The higher up we go, the rougher the waters get. There's more debris flying around Inzeh, so the King had to get rid of it though his way of doing it was quite interesting with the spinning and all. I haven't seen the King use his powers in such a long time, it just escaped my mind," she babbled on as I nodded. "The King has the ability to turn himself into a...what's the word your people call it? Hmm...a torpedo I believe or was it a hurricane? I don't know, but it's something that helps destroy a lot of stuff in such a short amount of time. He usually uses his hands, but since he was holding onto you, he used his body with the whole spinning thing. Once it was clear enough, he tossed you through before more debris filled the hole. That's where I come in." She beamed down at me as I shook my head with a smile.

"Okay," I drawled out as it took me a second to realize how dark the water had grown since I first entered. Something moved past Dioris to her right as I squinted my eyes, trying to see. "Dioris, what's that?" I asked weakly as she turned her head in the direction I was looking before cursing under her breath as she swam faster. "Dioris?"

"No worries, Yareli. We're going to make it no matter what," she said with determination on her face as she glowed brighter before slowly dimming amongst the darkness. "No matter what," she repeated, darkness surrounding us completely before I felt somebody grab my right hand while somebody else grabbed the other. Dioris' hands disappeared from me as the two people on each side of me quietly shushed me.
