For the rest of the week I didn't go to school, I just didn't have it in me to sit in a classroom for multiple hours a day and listen to my teachers go on and on about things that I could care less about.
Shannon stayed home with me on Thursday, but Friday she went to school and I gave her my phone in case Dad managed to get a hold of it and find my texts with Patrick.
Dad was still mad at me for all things boy involved, so I did my hardest to avoid him which wasn't really that difficult on Friday, because he wasn't in the house, it was just Sean and I, which was alright, but I was extremely bored and regretting giving my phone to Shannon.
But when Joey came back home only for a shower on Friday night, I was glad I did-because apparently Shannon was on the way to Dublin with her school, and she wouldn't be back until late.
It was obvious by eleven PM that something had happened, because she was still wasn't home, so I did the smart thing, not wanting to get in the way of my parents who were both arguing downstairs, I brought Sean into Tadgh and Ollie's bedroom, and even though none of us except Sean got any sleep that night at least none of them were in harm's way.
By the time morning rolled around, Dad was raging because the school had called Mam saying that Shannon had been found kissing Johnny Kavanagh in the changing rooms.
My immediate thought was go Shannon, but I quickly realized that this wasn't the time or place to be happy for my twin sister, and since Mam would be at work all day, I would have preferred to just stay in my room all, but my brothers needed breakfast.
Going downstairs was a major danger zone for all of us, especially because Dad was already drunk at ten in the morning. I kept my mouth shut and ignored his rude and inappropriate comments about Shannon and me, and focused on feeding my brothers, and since we didn't have much the best I could do was for Tadgh and Ollie while Sean got the last bowl of the knock off brand of Coco puffs we had.
Once they had all finished eating, Dad was watching TV in the living room, so we went upstairs into their room and helped Ollie with his homework for an hour before I went back down downstairs to do the dishes and all my other chores I had put off doing this week.
By eight pm that night I was exhausted, Mam had only gotten home around ten minutes ago, and she went straight up to her bedroom, not wanting to argue with Dad, and neither Shannon nor Joey were at home so he was pounding on my bedroom door for me to come out.
Tadgh and Ollie were in their bedroom, but Sean had practically been glued to my side all day.
"Get your hole out here, ya little cunt, before I break the fucking door down!"
"Open this door, girl, now."
I wanted to scream at him to fuck off, but because of the three year old beside me, I didn't.
