Before I even know what time it is, I hear a loud thud outside of my bedroom, which makes me open my eyes instantly.

That is not good.

I carefully move Delilah off of me, not wanting to wake her up, and then I quietly walk across my floor and unlock my bedroom door, the empty plate of cookies right outside.

Delilah and I ate them before we went to bed, which must have been four or five hours ago. I'm not sure what the time is now but it feels like it's very early in the morning.

Stepping outside my room, I close my bedroom door and hear another door open, from beside me. Kaelin and Aspen walk out, both looking half asleep.

"Patrick?" Aspen whispers walking towards me, while rubbing her eyes. "What was that?"

"I have no idea. But it probably came from Mam and Dad's room."

The three of us make our way to our parents room, and Kaelin pushes the door inward, while Aspen turns her phone torch on so we can see what made that thud sound.

What I expect to see is them sleeping, and not my mother laying on the floor, her eyes closed, and in her hand is an orange tub of pills. Aspen screams, dropping her phone on the floor, and Kaelin turns on the bedroom light before quickly kneeling on the floor to check for a pulse.

She puts her fingers on her neck, and releases a breath of relief. "There's a pulse, but it's faint. Aspen, you need to call 999."

Aspen doesn't move, still staring wide eyed at Mam, so I bend down and pick up her phone, quickly typing the numbers into her phone, I put the phone to my ear and only have to wait a few seconds before someone picks up.

I answer all of the woman's questions, telling her our address, and then give the phone to Kaelin, because I don't know what type of pills she took.

I wrap my arm around Aspen's shoulder, turning her around and leaving the room, she digs her head into the side of my chest, and I hear her muffled cries seconds later.

"It's okay, Aspen, she'll be okay."

"Will she?" Aspen asks, lifting head, and wiping her tears, "She's done it again, Patrick, she's almost sixty four. It's not normal."

I don't know what to say, so I stay silent, and Aspen walks away from me, going back into Kaelin's room, closing the door and I hear it lock behind her.

I turn around and walk back into my parents bedroom, and Kaelin isn't on the phone anymore, she's moved our mother on to her side, and she's trying to get her to wake up.

"This cannot be happening again." Kaelin mutters, looking up at me, "We already have Anna in the hospital, fuck."

"What did she take?" I wonder, "How did she even get those pills? We keep their medication in the kitchen."

"She took Annabeth's pills." Kaelin responds, handing me the tub, and I go to look at it, but my father turning and tossing on the bed, stops me. I put the pills down, and go over to his side of the bed, to try and get him to stop moving.

"No." He shakes his head, fighting my grip. "No, no, no."

"Dad." I say, loudly, but that doesn't stop him from muttering no and moving around on the bed. "Dad!" I repeat, and his arm shoots up, hitting me in the eye, which makes me curse and let go of him.

"What's wrong with him?" Kaelin asks, and I look back at her. "I don't know, he won't wake up."

My sister's eyes widen, and when I look back at my dad, he's stopped tossing and turning, only now he's having a seizure.

"Fuck, fuck." Kaelin curses, standing up. "Patrick, make sure Mam stays awake."

We switch places, and I bend down, and hold onto her hand, seeing her eyes flutter open for a brief second. "Mam, Can you hear me?"

"Pat." She whispers ever so quietly, her hand lightly squeezing mine. "I'm sorry.."

"It's okay, Mam. Just stay awake."

Fuck, where is this ambulance?

All of a sudden, I hear sirens, getting closer and then Kaelin rushes out of the room, my dad is still seizing, but I don't know what to do about that. I hear her run down the stairs and to the front door.

A minute later, four EMT's come rushing into the room, and two come down to me, and the other two go to my dad.

A hand pulls me up by my shirt, and then I'm getting shoved out of the room by Kaelin. "Go get changed, Aspen will stay here, but we need to go in the ambulance."

I don't question it, and quickly go back into my bedroom, as expected Delilah is wide awake, sitting on top of my duvet, with her legs criss crossed. When she sees me, she jumps up off the bed, and into my arms.

"Patrick, what the fuck is happening?"

"My mam overdosed, and my dad had a seizure." I explain, turning on my bedroom light. "I am so sorry for this, but I really need to go to the hospital."

She pulls away from me, looking slightly confused and a lot tired. "Well, I'm coming with you."

I grab a pair of sweatpants, not even caring if they're dirty, and I pull them on my legs, and shake my head at her. "No, you should stay here, Aspen is."

"I'm not staying here, Patrick."

"Delilah, all you have to do is go back to sleep, and I'll be here when you wake up again, okay?"

"Patrick-"

"No." I cut her off, grabbing a pair of socks from my floor. "I don't want you to see this..I can't, You shouldn't-Fuck."

My bedroom door opens, and I turn my head, seeing Kaelin standing with Aspen. "They're in the ambulances. Is Delilah coming?"

"No." I say at the same time that Delilah says. "Yes."

"You're not coming." I state, putting on my socks, "I don't want you involved in this." I ignore my girlfriend's glare and turn around to face my sisters. "Aspen."

"I know." She nods, walking into my bedroom, and wrapping an arm around Delilah, and whispers something in her ear.

I feel like shit for leaving her here, but I never wanted Delilah to see how really messed up my life is, it's why none of my friends ever come over to my house, Hughie's only been over once or twice, but if you asked him, Johnny or Gibsie what my sisters names are, I doubt they would know.

"Patrick, we have to go." Kaelin urges, and I nod, putting my shoes on but not bothering to do the laces. The two of us leave my bedroom, and when I'm halfway down the stairs, two arms wrap around me tightly.

I hug Delilah back for a few seconds, and she looks up at me, still looking pissed. But before she can say anything, I do. "I love you, I'm sorry. But I really need to go."

She lets go of me, nodding her head slowly, and I follow my sister down the stairs and outside into the cold night air, Kaelin goes into the first ambulance with my dad, and I go in the second one with my Mam.

I sit down on the bench next to the EMT, and hold her hand, then seconds later the ambulance starts moving, sirens going off right away.

Fuck, this is definitely one way to start my day.
