Here is an odd warning for you! As you know I like ships, but as you also know I don't tend to go crazy with them in books. If I do I try to stay away from the weird stuff and try not to make it the main focus of the book.
I also know that many of you are not the biggest fans of reading about ships! Which is okay on every level! There are also many people who love ships! Which is also okay on most levels! (Don't make it weird)
Just wanted to give a ship warning for this chapter! Just a small heads up for those who do not like that kind of stuff.
And those who do- well here you go :D
Anyway, enjoy the chapter!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Time
Everything was frozen around us. The fire in the distance, the rushing of the smokey air. Everyone's face was plastered with fear and hope. That this will finally be the end of all of it. The pain that has led us to this point. Sabre standing in front of me. Despite cleaning ourselves up at the river, we still looked horrid. The bags under his eye, his cheeks smeared with ash and ruined. The way he stood, slightly hunched over. His legs shake under all the pressure he feels. The pressure I felt at that moment.
"I... I can't do this Time." Sabre sighs, his body begins to tremble as he says it. Defeat echoes in his words. "I don't... have enough power or strength left. I need to finish this, for all of you." His voice breaks slowly as he explains things to me. "I can't do this on my own..."
"You don't have to Sabr," I reassured him, as I crouched down to his level, so my eyes could meet his. "This is something everyone has been doing together. Ever since everyone thought you died, they all began to fight for who you are. What you brought for the steves time and time again." I gently rubbed his shoulders. A sigh escapes him.
"They have... they have." He mutters.
"So why stop now? Now that you are back. It shouldn't change how we face situations. We need to work together Sabre." I took my hands off his shoulders and held his in mine. Sabre smiles softly.
"You're right." He takes a deep breath looking back at Demom Steve. Looming over us in a frozen silence as we speak. Even if Sabre attacked him now, Demon Steve might be able to regenerate himself right after. I looked back at Sabre my head spinning on what we could do to defeat him. We need to get the rest of his code back. I stepped over to Demon Steve, trying to take the code from him in this frozen state, yet as I pulled. Nothing comes out of it. Sabre steps over as well, yet as he grabs it, his body changes, Glitching back and forward, eventually falling back in pain as I manage to grab him.
"I... I can't-" He stuttered as his body slowly went back to a stable fate. I looked down at him.
"There has to be something else, I am not losing you again Sabre! No one wants you to risk your life right now. No one wants to lose you!" I yelled at him, letting the anger slip out of my voice.
"I..." He takes a deep breath slowly sitting himself up, turning himself to face me.
"I didn't mean to yell at you, Sabre... I'm just sure we can find a different way." I looked back to the others frozen in time. Alex and Galaxy looked burned out. Everyone else was seriously hurt or injured in some way. Faceless and Memory, though both powerful together have no way of defeating him on their own. Origin had to focus on protecting Lucas, and if he fought. It might mean the end if no one else can protect Lucas. Thank everything Father explained what happened while Sabre fought with Demon. As I look down at Sabre I realize it is just the two of us against him.
"It's okay Time... It's okay..." His breathing remained ragged as he spoke. How much more could he take? If he fell... how much could I take before falling decide him in the now charred wastelands of the overworld? I close my eyes, trying to think of even the smallest thing that could help, but instead. I got nothing. No ideas, no wacky plans. Nothing but the thought of death lingering in the back of my head.
