A few years later
Sabre
I walked next to a large area surrounded by birch trees. Taking a moment to myself before I went back to the others. The birds sang in the trees, with the bristle of leaves against the wind. The blue sky hung over my head with the sun's comforting light. The colors of the forest are so much more vivid since I stopped wearing my blindfold. I peaked down at my reflection in the water. My coded eyes are bright and pure in the green light. Energy settled behind my eyes, leaving the air with a tinge of power ready to spark up around me. Everyone has gotten used to the feeling already.
I close my eyes, taking in the beautiful day. Letting my senses still stay aware of what was around me. From the movement of bunnies in bushes, to the buzz of bees settling on blooming flowers. The sound of the lake shifting with the wind and gently splashing against the wet soil edges. The sound of my heart gently beating in my chest rushing blood and air in my body. It's been years... since Demon Steve nearly destroyed the world, and ever since then. Things have been peaceful. The Steves have grown in population and so has the once small city. Now it has a beacon lighting up the sky to guide any lost Steves to a new home and hope.
It especially shines at night.
As I took in the silence and peace of the area, I heard something else. Something... out of place. Slow footsteps thumped against the ground to the left of me, each step seemed hesitant. I turned my head and opened my eyes to see what was coming over. Maybe a stray animal? I watched as a Yellow and Green Steve froze as my odd eyes laid on them. Fear traced over their faces.
"Hey it's okay, I'm not here to hurt you." I state quickly with a soft smile. They looked a little thin, their clothes worn down and dirty.
"What... what are you?" The Yellow Steve stutters, standing slightly in front of their friend.
"I'm a Code Jumper, but you can call me Sabre. What's your name?" I didn't step to them, but I did offer my hand to the two steves. The Green Steve hesitantly looks at my hand before stepping forward to me and shaking my hand.
"I'm Green Steve, but my friend calls me Pine." I smiled at them and shook their hand.
"I'm Yellow Steve, but Pine calls me Thunder." He grumbles with a bit more caution in his voice.
"Well Thunder, Pine, nice to meet you both. What brings you two here?"
"We are looking for a place to stay for the night..." Pine hesitates.
"Oh, are you two traveling then?"
"More permanently traveling... we have been hoping to find a place to settle together. Safely." Thunder tells me.
"Well you have come to the right place, the Steve City is not too far from here." Shock fills both of their eyes as I mention a city.
"There... is there is a city here?" Pine questions.
"Yeah... have you seen the beacon at night? The rainbow one?"
"Yes, we have been following it. It leads to a city?"
"Yup! and everyone is welcome in it. I'll take you there right now if you like." I offered the two of them.
"I guess, it wouldn't hurt to see it."
"If it's too overwhelming you don't have to stay, but there is an inn you can stay at for the night. I think there is a fairly large group of Steves who want to branch out and create another city on their own... Well more so a village. They want to call it Shade Village. If the city is too overwhelming I can send you to that group."
