Shahmeer yeh kya himakat yeh? Shehnaaz begum's voice echoed in the room where her husband and her youngest son were fighting with each other."Himakat..? Ammi jo aap logon ne mere saath kiya hai wo koi apne dushman ke saath nahi karta aur mein toh shayad apki hi aulaad hun..", The words that were uttered made shehnaaz to slap her son for the first time. His baseless accusations were now getting out of their hand.
"Tameez bhul gaye ho tum.. apne baba se aise baat kar rahe ho.. yehi tarbiyat ki hai humne tumhari.. kya sochenge kashaan bhai aur safiya?"
Shahmeer chuckled dryly not even thinking of anything else and called the double standards of his parents.
"Wo kaun se doodh ke dhule hain..apni beti ko mere palle bandh diya.. itni hi jaldi thi toh koi aur dhund lete.."
"Bas shahmeer bahut hua.. nikkah hi hua hai tumhara..", his father Hashim this time rebuked him. It was his Nikkah day and he was forced to get married to his youngest female cousin, zunaira. Him being the youngest male was appropriate for the family though shahmeer protested vehemently.
"Nikkah.. Haan aap logon ne mujhse meri choice leli.. aur iss umr me mera Nikkah karwa diya.. abbu abhi abhi toh mera admission hua tha college me..",
"Toh kisne mana Kiya hai ki toh padhai likhai mat karo.. jao jakar padho.. aur Zuni ke pass bhi mat bhatakna.. uske bhi 10th ke exams hai..", the way his mother rebuked him next made shahmeer eye at his parents in disdain.
"Meri pasand na pasand ka kuch nahi hai.. kal agar mujhe koi aur ladki pasand aagayi toh yeh zabardasti ki shadi ko me nahi manunga aap yaad rakhiyega.."
