24 votes and I'll upload the next chapter. If it's done in an hour, I'll upload the chapter, if it's done in two days, I'll upload the chapter.
I think 24 is the perfect number because that's what the last one got.
Early Monday Morning 22nd 2021
The throbbing in Y/N's back was a cruel rhythm. He didn't want to dwell on it, to dissect the why or the how. He just wanted to be home, surrounded by the comforting chaos of Rhea, Harper, and Amalia. But he knew Rhea. Her sharp intuition would see past his carefully constructed silence, and she wouldn't let him retreat into himself. So, he made a detour. Forget the healing, forget the anger, for now, he craved the greasy comfort of a McDonald's meal.
With a grunt, Y/N pulled into the drive-thru, ordering his usual and then, remembering Rhea's insatiable love for chicken nuggets, a box for her too. He figured a bit of fast food indulgence might be the only consolation he could offer himself tonight. He was already planning the extra training sessions he'd need to burn this off, but for now, he was going to try and get a moment of something resembling peace.
Cashier: That'll be $21.12 at the window.
He pulled forward and was met with a teenage girl at the register, her eyes wide.
Cashier: Oh my god, it's you! You're Y/N L/N!"
Y/N suppressed a sigh. He really wasn't in the mood for fan encounters. He managed a curt,
Y/N: Yeah.
Cashier: Wow, I can't believe it!
She squealed, her eyes darting around. Y/N just wanted his food.
Y/N: Is your McFlurry machine working?
He asked, cutting through her gushing. He had a craving for something cold and sweet and wasn't laced with betrayal. Her face fell.
Cashier: Oh, uh, no, sorry. It's actually down.
For a moment, Y/N considered just paying for his food but then, a stubbornness took hold.
Y/N: How about for a hundred?
Her eyes widened again, this time with a hint of calculation.
Cashier: Uh... I'm sure I can figure something out.
There was something darkly amusing about the lengths people went to for money, even to fix a broken ice cream machine. He paid and waited, the silence in his car punctuated by the hum of the engine and the still aching of his back. Eventually, she emerged with a bag bulging with food and a look that seemed to say, 'Mission Accomplished.' He took the bag, mumbled thanks, and was about to pull away when she leaned further out the window, her voice filled with a newfound boldness.
Cashier: Hey, uh, Mr. L/N? My boyfriend and I are huge fans. Any chance we could maybe... get some WrestleMania tickets?
Y/N took a slow breath, then shook his head, his jaw tight. The word 'no' barely escaped his lips before he hit the gas, leaving her standing there, mouth agape. He pulled out of the parking lot, the McDonald's bag on the seat beside him, the smell of fries filling the car. He knew he was being harsh, but he couldn't bring himself to care.
Tonight wasn't about them. It was about the ache in his back, the betrayal that lingered in the air, and the comforting presence of his family waiting for him at home. He had enough problems, he didn't need to add to it by getting manipulated for more favours.
