CW: They will 100% piss you off! They are both so toxic in this story but there's character development.
The air in the university common room crackled, not with electricity, but with the sheer force of Gemini and Fourth’s latest spat. This time, the catalyst was a limited-edition figurine, a rare collectible that Fourth had painstakingly hunted down. It lay on the floor, a casualty of war, stained with a dark, unwelcome blotch of coffee courtesy of Gemini’s clumsy hand.
“I can’t believe you!” Fourth shrieked, his voice echoing through the room. “This was limited edition! Do you have any idea how hard it was to find?”
Gemini, equally red-faced, threw his hands up in exasperation. “It was an accident! I said I was sorry!”
“Sorry doesn’t un-stain a collectible!” Fourth’s voice rose another octave. “This is the last straw, Gemini. I’m done. Done done.”
Gemini scoffed. “Oh please, Fourth. You say that every time. And guess what? We always end up back together.”
“Not this time!” Fourth declared, his eyes flashing. “This time, it’s for real.”
“Fine!” Gemini yelled back. “Good riddance!”
Their friends, Satang, Phuwin, Mark, Perth, Ohm, and Prom, watched this familiar scene unfold with a collective sigh. They’d lost count of how many times they’d witnessed this exact scenario. The object of contention changed – sometimes it was a misplaced phone, other times a forgotten anniversary, once it was even a disagreement about the proper way to fold a fitted sheet – but the result was always the same: a dramatic, explosive fight followed by equally dramatic vows of finality.
Phuwin, ever the pragmatist (and opportunist), pulled out his phone. “Alright, gentlemen, place your bets! How long before they’re back together?”
Satang rolled his eyes. “Phuwin, seriously? Again?”
“Hey, it’s tradition!” Phuwin grinned, tapping on his phone screen. “I’ve got Satang down for three days, Mark for a week… anyone want in?”
Mark, the quiet observer of the group, shook his head. “You guys are enabling them.”
“Nah,” Perth chimed in, “we’re just witnesses to a spectacular train wreck. And honestly? The reruns are kind of entertaining.”
Ohm chuckled. “I give it two days, tops. Gemini will apologize with some grand gesture, Fourth will pretend to be resistant for about five minutes, and then they’ll be back to holding hands and feeding each other snacks like nothing ever happened.”
Prom, the most optimistic of the group, sighed. “I’m hoping they’ll actually… you know… stay broken up this time.”
Phuwin snorted. “Bless your heart, Prom. You’re too pure for this world.”
As Gemini and Fourth continued their shouting match, oblivious to the betting pool being formed in their honor, their friends exchanged knowing glances. They knew how this was going to end. It always ended the same way. The only question was: how long would this latest “breakup” last?
The first few days after Gemini and Fourth’s latest dramatic split were, as always, a trial by fire for their long-suffering friend group. Navigating the fallout was a delicate dance. One wrong step, one misplaced word, and you could find yourself caught in the crossfire of their simmering resentment. Satang, ever the diplomat, meticulously planned group outings, ensuring Gemini and Fourth were never in close proximity. Phuwin, meanwhile, kept a running commentary on their passive-aggressive behavior, turning their thinly veiled insults into comedic gold.
