Super part 3: Balance of Power

The battle began.

Glastrier reared up, its chilling breath forming a mist as it brought its hooves crashing down.

"Enough talk—begone!" it bellowed, launching itself forward.

With a violent Double-Edge, it barreled through the resistance lines, sending Pokémon flying in all directions. Before they could recover, Spectrier’s ghostly mane flared, and it unleashed Haze, blanketing the battlefield in a deep, eerie fog that distorted vision and sapped their ability to coordinate.

"Ye shall fall in blindness, as all fools do!" Spectrier sneered.

David skidded backward, his claws scraping against the pavement.

"Stay sharp! Keep them at a distance!" he called out, eyes glowing crimson as he unleashed Night Daze—a violent burst of dark energy rippled through the haze, dispersing part of it and momentarily blinding Spectrier.

Alex took the opening and charged forward, palms glowing with energy.

"Force Palm!"

His attack landed square on Glastrier's thick hide, launching the icy steed. It grinned.

"Foolish welp."

In an instant, Glastrier slammed its hooves down, using Taunt to force Alex into battle—no retreat, no hesitation. It then lunged forward with Icicle Crash, shards of ice showering the battlefield as Alex barely dodged, feeling the sting of frost against his fur.

David leapt in, his eyes flickering as he activated Illusion. Two copies of himself split off, darting in opposite directions.

"Try hitting all of me, ya frost-bitten mule!"

Glastrier snarled and reared up again, unleashing Thrash, its massive body smashing through walls and scattering debris in an attempt to catch the real David.

Meanwhile, Spectrier vanished into the mist, only to reappear behind a resistance member. Its hooves pulsed with eerie energy, about to make contact—ready to rip the poor pokémon's soul straight from its body.

But before it could land the fatal blow—

*CLASH!*

Alex intercepted, Shadow Claw meeting Spectrier's hooves mid-air, the collision sending a shockwave through the battlefield. The two locked in a deadly struggle, their eyes burning with determination.

"Oho… a mere Riolu, standing against me? This level of power… from such a puny creature?" Spectrier mused, pressing its hooves harder against Alex's claws.

Alex gritted his teeth, his arms trembling under the force, but he refused to back down.

Then, Glastrier charged in from the side, hooves raised for a devastating kick!

"Yer done, cub!"

Before Glastrier could strike, a blur of black and red lunged into the fray—

David's Foul Play smashed into Glastrier's flank, using its own massive strength against it.

Glastrier bellowed in rage, stumbling from the sudden impact.

Spectrier hissed at the interruption and unleashed a barrage of Shadow Balls in retaliation—

*BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!*

Explosions of ghostly energy detonated all around them, the shockwaves sending Alex and David flying through the air, crashing through the remains of a marketplace.

As dust and smoke filled the air, Calyrex watched from the rooftops, gripping the Rein of Unity tightly.

"Just a little longer…" it muttered.
