Om Shanti

Peace lacks in lands far and wide,
Beaten upon shores, in chains it abide,
Stand with me as I call upon you to turn the tide,
Push terror to the backdrop and with peace abide.

You pray for respite in these troubled times,
I seek it with my verses, with my rhymes.

I bring you incantations from homeland; peace to provide,
Speak it with love; let it be your guide,
I pray for peace at work and peace at home,
Om shanti, shanti om.

Hold the dove and drop the gun,
Take lessons in peace from the priest or the nun,
Peace is golden though war might seem fun,
But remember that war brings nothing in the long run.

You pray for peace but hate you share,
Spread love instead if for peace you care.

Incantations I bring from my homeland now,
Inspiration for peace, it will show you how,
Bring peace at work and peace at home,
Say Om shanti, shanti om.

I pray for peace in all of your lives,
May your life be showered with flowers and not blood from bloody knives,
Bury the hatchet, let it rot as archives,
Remember that peace on love thrives.

And I commend those thousands who stand for peace,
Even when millions wage war, call them names and tease.

Few incantations from homeland I bring,
Whisper them, speak them or if you want sing,
I pray it brings peace at work and peace at home,
Om shanti, shanti om.
