The Quest [ Sasuhina Fanfic ]

Chapter 1 •Orpheus & Eurydice•

In the past, the leaders of both Hyuga and Uchiha Clans killed each other creating hatred between both clans. But after many years the leaders of the Hyuga and Uchiha Clan have finally decided to bring peace to both clans, and so they sat in a meeting to find peace for both clans.
"Finally both clans are coming to an agreement" Itachi smiled and my cousin Neji nodded,
"Do you hear that Hinata, we will finally find peace" Sasuke turned to me with a smile and I looked down with a faint blush and nodded happily, it's been 4 years since I first met Sasuke and his brother Itachi, we met at the river that separated both clans, and there me and my cousin Neji became friends with Itachi and Sasuke despite our different Clans. After 2 hours both leaders came out of the meeting and announced their decision,
"We have come to an agreement that in order to bring peace we will send someone from the Hyuga and someone from the Uchiha clan to go on a quest to bring the lyre" said the leader of the Uchiha clan,
"As the leader of the Hyuga clan I should send my daughter Hinata who is supposed to be the next leader after me, but since she is still 12 I have decided to send Neji" The leader of the Hyuga clan, my father, decided to send Neji who is two years older than me and the leader of the Uchiha clan decided to send his first son Itachi who is 17 years old instead of Sasuke his younger brother who is 13 years old.
"Are you going to be okay, Neji ?" I asked worried that a quest might be too much for a 14 year old,
"Of course I'm going to be okay, Hinata, I'll be having Itachi by my side after all" Neji patted my head as he got ready to head out,
"But what if you end up not finding the lyre?" I hurried out the door behind Neji asking,
"Hinata, do you know the story about Orpheus and Eurydice ?" Neji asked looking at me with a smile,
"No, what is it about ?" I asked wondering what it has to do with our conversation,
"You'll understand when you read it, bye" he answered giving me his back and waving goodbye without turning back. Itachi and Neji went on their quest to find the lyre which is said to bring peace with it's soothing music which can even calm a savage beast. However, the only way to get that lyre is to trust your partner and have faith in him, just like the story of Orpheus and Eurydice. I opened an old book I found in the library and started reading the story of Orpheus and Eurydice, where they both fell in love and got married, but soon after Eurydice got bitten by a snake and died, Orpheus couldn't bear to live without her and went to the underworld to bring Eurydice back. But to reach the underworld he must first cross four great rivers, and he got passed all of them with the help of the lyre, an instrument that was given to him by the Greek myth Apollo. He reached the underworld and begged Hades, the king of the dead, to bring Eurydice back to the living, Hades agreed but on one condition,
"Eurydice will follow you out of the Underworld, but you must not look back or speak to her, until you're both once more in the world of the men" Hades said and Orpheus agreed, but on his way out he heard no one behind him, he started to lose faith and that Hades might've tricked him, so before he existed the Underworld, he turned around and saw Eurydice following behind him but that's when he broke the deal and he lost Eurydice forever. I finally understood why both leaders sent Itachi and Neji on a quest to find the lyre, only those who are trust worthy will come back with it safely, if none of them came back then that means that one of them have betrayed the other. However, 4 years have passed and nether of them came back. After reading more about the four great rivers and training to be stronger, I decided to go look for Neji and Itachi and bring peace to both clans. I headed to where my father is, but I didn't expect to see the leader of the Uchiha clan,
"H-hello, I'm sorry for interrupting but I have something to say to both of you" I said, "go ahead" both leaders gave me the permission to speak, I gathered my courage to speak again,
"I want to go on that quest that Neji went on 4 years ago, I want to bring back Neji as well as Itachi and bring peace to both clans" I looked straight at them with confidence,
"Hinata, I'm afraid I can't allow it" the leader of the Hyuga clan, who is also my father, refused to my request,
"But father please, I'm prepared for this, I'm already 16, I've gotten stronger through the continues training, I've read a lot about the four great rivers, I've been getting ready for this day four years ago" I desperately wanted to go, I wanted to keep the promise I made 7 years ago,
"I'm sorry Hinata, but this quest is for partners, without a partner you can't reach the lyre" the leader of the Uchiha clan explained looking apologetically, and when hope was almost lost I heard the door opening and turned around to see the last person I expected,
"Sasuke, what are you doing here ?".
