Chapter 6 •memories• part 2

When I was 10 years old my brother used to tell me that the Uchiha clan and the Hyuga clan will one day find peace and be as one, I believed him, I believed my brother who I admire and decided to help him look for peace. As usual I headed towards the river that separates both clans to practice my martial arts, but someone has already beat me to it. It was a girl with a short hair sitting on a rock while staring at her reflection from the other side of the river, I came closer and heard her talking to herself, saying that she wants to be stronger, that's when it hit me, if I help someone from the Hyuga clan then maybe it could help Itachi be closer to his dream, of bringing peace to both clans. I promised the girl who is called Hinata to make her stronger, and told her to come to the river so we could practice. However, one day my brother Itachi felt that something was off and so he followed me to the river,
"Hinata put more strength in your punches" I trained Hinata just like any other day until our practice was interrupted by someone pulling me back, I looked up to see my brother Itachi,
"Itachi what are you doing here ?" I asked in surprise,
"Sasuke what are you doing with a Hyuga, if someone saw you...then we'd be in big trouble" just before Itachi could continue lecturing me a kid who looked 12 years old and had a long black hair jumped in front of Hinata as if to protect her from us,
"Hinata what brings you here, this place is dangerous" He said,
"Neji, it's okay they won't hurt us" Hinata tried to explain to the kid named Neji,
"Itachi this is what you wanted ! Peace between both clans, Hinata and I became friends despite our different clans" I also tried to explain to my brother,
"Sasuke...." My brother looked at me looking a bit surprised,
"Hinata is what this kid is saying true ?" Neji asked Hinata looking surprised himself,
"Yes, he's been training me to become stronger so that father can be proud of me" Hinata answered with her usual voice and innocent smile. After that day Itachi and Neji started spending more time together until they finally became friends.
"I promise.." A voice echoed as I regained my conscious,
"The forgotten past huh.." I opened my eyes finding Hinata's sleeping face in front of me,
"What was the promise....It's blurry..." I continued to lay down on the moving boat,
"It's no use I can't remember, must be the fog.." I sighed as I focused my eyes at Hinata once more but this time I couldn't look away,
"Her hair is so much longer now..." I whispered to myself as I hesitantly tucked  a few strands of her hair behind her ear, interrupting my thoughts the boat stopped moving bringing me back to my senses, I sat up and saw that we reached the shore, "we're here" I turned to Hinata to wake her up,
"Hinata,we're here, wake up" but it didn't work Hinata continued to sleep peacefully so I gently shook her shoulder until she finally opened her eyes,
"Wake up we reached the shore" I said as I slowly got off the shaking boat,
"Oh ! We're finally here" Hinata quickly stood up while rubbing her sleepy eyes but because of her sudden movement the boat shook violently,
"Ahh" Hinata lost her balance and was falling backwards and into the river,
"Watch out" I shouted as my hand moved on it's own grabbing her waist before she could fall, with one leg on the boat and the other on the shore our faces were close enough for our noses to touch,
"Beautiful.." A thought quickly ran through my head as our eyes met.
