The Quest [ Sasuhina Fanfic ]

Chapter 2 •Hatred•

When I was a kid my big brother Itachi believed that peace upon both clans can happen and will happen, he believed it so much that I started believing it as well. One day both clans decided to find peace and be as one, it was the day me and my brother were waiting for,
"They're finally coming to an agreement" my brother Itachi smiled and Neji who was next to him nodded,
"Did you hear that Hinata, we will finally find peace" I turned to Hinata while smiling and she looked down nodding happily, it's been 4 years since I first met Hinata and her cousin Neji, by meeting them I started to see hope in finding peace between both clans. The leaders decided that in order to find peace my brother Itachi and Hinata's cousin Neji should head out on a quest to find the lyre.
"Itachi take me with you ! I'm already 13" I begged my brother Itachi to bring me with him so I can help him find peace,
"I'm sorry Sasuke, but it's meaningless if both of us went, me and Neji are not just going for the lyre, it's the journey the leaders wants us to take" Itachi explained but I didn't understand,
"The lyre will bring peace not the journey, if you come empty handed then it's useless" I said,
"Sasuke, do you know the story of Orpheus and Eurydice ?" Itachi asked,
"Yes..but what does it have to do with the quest ?" I answered looking confused,
"The story is about faith and trust, if we come back empty handed then it means we didn't get along that much to go through the great four rivers, however, if we both didn't come back then that means one of us betrayed the other, betrayal will trap you there, the only way through is by having trust and faith" Itachi explained as he patted my head, and I decided to have faith in my brother and in the Hyuga clan. But after my brother and Neji left, 4 years have passed and they still haven't came back. I have came to only one conclusion and that is, that Neji betrayed my brother. I headed to the leaders with a plan to find my brother, for I no longer care in finding peace between both clans. When I got there Hinata who I haven't talked to for a very long time was already there, noticing me she turned around and looked at me surprised,
"Sasuke what are you doing here ?" She asked in her usual low voice,
"I came here to talk to the leaders about the lyre quest" I looked straight at the leaders avoiding eye contact with Hinata,
"What do you want?" The leader of the Hyuga clan asked,
"Go ahead Sasuke, say what you want" the leader of the Uchiha clan added,
"I want you to give me permission to go on the lyre quest to bring peace between both clans" I lied, I only wanted to look for my brother, I couldn't care less about peace,
"Is that so ?" Both leaders looked surprised,
"Father--no leaders of both clans I also ask that you let me go on this quest" Hinata said looking determined,
"There is no need, I can go by myself" I objected,
"Very well, in order to find peace once again I will let you go on this quest, but only under one condition" the leader of the Uchiha clan said that while looking at the leader of the Hyuga clan as they both nodded to each other,
"And what's that condition ?" I asked,
"If you are to go, then Hinata shall be your partner since this is a quest to find peace" the leader of the Uchiha clan answered looking straight at me as if he can read right through me, but I didn't waiver,
"Very well, I agree" I answered expressionless, I'm not going to let anything ruin my plan, I'll let her tag along just to get the permission and the map to the lyre then I'll abandon her to die there,
"One more thing, the one who will be holding the map will be my daughter, Hinata" the leader of the Hyuga clan add as if he heard my plan,
"Understood" I agreed without wavering, Hinata took the map to the lyre and we headed towards the lyre. Our first destination was the first great river, but to get there we needed to pass the forest that surrounds the village,
"Sasuke, let's do our best" Hinata said while
extending her hand in front of me waiting for a handshake,
"Don't get in my way" ignoring her extended hand I continued to move forward,
"Hey...that wasn't very nice.." She mumbled as I continued to walk towards the first great river with her following behind me.
