Russia smiled to himself, he was glad he'd befriended America. He was excited to go see his friend, even if it was only during school hours for now. He knew he had a crush on America, but he doubted America would accept his feelings yet, so friendship was enough.
As he started towards the school, he considered the mystery person leaving things in his locker, he was glad he'd probably be able to catch them today. He'd hang back after school to watch out for them. He wanted to clear that up before he even considered trying to date the cutie. America didn't deserve any extra anxiety, especially since America seemed observant enough to figure it out. He didn't want someone leaving things in his locker and screwing up his chances because the person he was interested in was an observant knowledge sponge. And America seemed a little pessimistic, since the immediate assumption was that he, he Russia-Fucking-Moscow, hated him. Russia couldn't believe that, America thought he hated him! He still wasn't over it, what the fuck did he do to give that impression?
He'd ask Ukraine, but she'd tell him to "Figure it out yourself, genius" which would be of no help. He could ask Cuba, but Cuba would probably just call him a dumbass and leave it at that. Which would also be of no damn help! He wanted to get closer to America before he asked, and wanted to make sure America saw him as trustworthy enough to be honest about why he thought that.
He shook his head as though to rid himself of the thoughts, continuing on his way to the school.
Soon enough he was walking into the school, he'd noticed America hanging around fairly early once so hoped he could talk and walk with his new friend. He looked around the cafeteria when he entered, not spotting America there, so he continued on to the hall to look around near their classroom for their first period. He spotted America over by his locker, so quickly made his way over there, excited to see his friend.
"Привет!" Russia excitedly greeted as he approached his friend. He wanted to hug him, but hesitated, unsure if America was okay with that. He waited for a second before asking: "May I hug?"
America nodded, only hesitating for a second before he moved closer to Russia for the hug.
Russia happily hugged his friend for a moment before letting go so he wouldn't make America uncomfortable. He then started towards his own locker, smiling at America.
"Let me get necessary books from my locker" Russia hummed, opening his locker. He wasn't too surprised to find another gift, but it still surprised him a little when he saw it.
He was a little surprised to find an embroidered coaster. The cloth was a nice maroon color, and the embroidery was a golden yellow. It was a nice simple tree. The coaster was trimmed with a short red lace, it looked very nice.
He smiled a little, it was his favorite colors, he'd keep it, it was of good quality, he might not know who made it, but he'd find out eventually.
He tucked it into his bag and grabbed his World history book from in the locker which he also put in his bag. He then turned back to America, looking at him with a smile.
"What do you usually do when you get here this early?" He asked, slightly tilting his head.
"Oh, I uhm... I usually hang out in the library"America muttered, looking away nervously.
"Well, would you like to do that?" Russia asked with a smile on his face. He was eager to get to know America better.
"Sure, I mean, we could also work a bit on the project... If you wouldn't mind that" America shifted his weight a little, it looked like he was really nervous about being close to someone. Russia recognized the feeling, he used to feel that, but now he didn't really care anymore.
